Guide to Indian Passport Renewal/ Re-issue – Documents, Process

Applying for an Indian passport used to be a complicated process in the past and mostly done with the help of agents. But things have changed in the past few years with good processes and technology. You do not need an agent anymore and can do it everything on your own.

In this article, we cover the entire process end to end and also have user experiences too.

Indian Passport Renewal vs Re-Issue

“Renewal and Re-issue are used interchangeably by many. But there is a subtle difference. The term renewal is used, if you have a passport with Short Validity Passport (SVP) and you are applying for extending the same. In that case, you will still be getting a new book. Unlike, Re-issue relates to exhaustion of pages or passport reaching the end of a 10 year validity. The terms renewal and re-issue are used interchangeably in the article below for easy understanding. The process is same, so nothing to worry.

When can you Renew or Re-issue Indian Passport?

You can renew or re-issue your Indian passport up to 1 year before the expiration of the passport. If you are a student, you can get re-issue of your passport within two years of expiry by selecting reason ” Validity expired within 3 years/ Due to expire”. You can also renew or get re-issue of passport, if you meet any of the below :

  • Your personal details changed like name, martial status, etc.
  • Your passport expired already within last 3 years or before
  • Your passport pages are completely full and no pages left
  • Your passport is damaged or you lost the same.

Passport Document Advisor : Indian Passport Website has a document advisor, that clearly tells the required documents, you should enter your details, to get the list of documents required before you begin to process, so that you do not end up in panic after registering. You can access it at Passport India Document Advisor

Below is the step by step guide to get Indian Passport re-issue or renewed.

Step 1:  Register Online Account at Passport Website

Since the paper based forms are eliminated, you need to fill Indian passport application online. Below are the details.

  • The very first step is to register yourself with the Passport Website. All you need to do is go to Passport Seva Website and click on ” New User Registration”.
  • You will be asked to fill basic details and email ID. This will be used to login and fill the passport application form. You can choose the passport office based on where you currently live now.
  • The second thing is to activate your account using the email you get and login.
  • After you login, you will see an option called “Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport”.  Click on that and enter details.
  • Can Submit Passport Application Anywhere : Since June 2018, as per new guidance, you can apply for passport anywhere in India. You do not have to do it in the same state of your residence. There is a dropdown in the account creation page, you are free to choose the location where you are

Step 2:  Fill Passport Application Online

After you activate your account and login, you will be presented with two options to fill out application form, the online system will show as Alternative 1 and Alternative 2 . It does not matter what you use, both work the same.

  • Alternative 1  : Using Online form to fill the application online. You will need internet.
  • Alternative 2 : Using PDF form. You download the form, fill it out and then upload it.

The recommended option is to use the Alternative 2 with PDF form as some details may not be readily available with us and we have to save info, etc. I also prefer the PDF form option as it is very detailed and clear. Either case, it is the same. You will need the below details to complete the form.

  • Your current address details and other details that are already in your previous passport.
  • You need to enter Emergency Contact Details like Name, phone number and email.
  • If you are changing any details like adding Spouse info, their info as per document

If you are using the PDF form option, you will need to fill all the mandatory fill and then hit validate and Save, it will ask you to save a file (XML file) and give it a name.

You need to upload that file in the section where you just downloaded the PDF form. All the details will be automatically created, you need to verify before saving as you cannot change the details after this step. Of course, you can change them when you are at passport office, if anything wrong.

Step 3 :   Pay and Book a Slot or Walk –in, Print Application Receipt :

Once your application is created, next step is to check for available slots and then pay for it.  There is an option on the website home page to check the slots as well or you can go to Check Appointment Availability. Anyways, once your application is submitted. you need to select it, for that see below.

  • You will have an option on the left saying ” View Saved / Submitted Applications “.  Select the application by clicking on radio button. Then you will show options with links to them. You need to click on Pay and Schedule Appointment.
  • This will give option for payment, either online or pay with challan. Usually, it is easy to do it online way. Selected Online Payment
  • Then you will have option to select the Passport Service Kendra and the time slot. It will show the available time slots options.
  • You can select the same and then you will go for payment page. Where you can select your payment option. I used NetBanking and it was seamless.

If you are eligible for walk-in, you can cancel the appointment and then carry that cancellation page, along with the payment receipt page, you will be allowed to walk-in directly during the respective hours.

Once payment is complete, you will have to print the application receipt and carry that with you on the appointment day. It will have a bar code as well, ensure that is clearly printed and it has the payment confirmation info on it. If you find something wrong in the details, make a note, then you can tell the same at passport service kendra.

Step 4 : Documents List for Passport Re-issue or Renewal

You have a nice step by step guide to help you identify the list of documents that you need for your passport renewal. If you go to the home page and click on Document Advisor for renewal / re-issue , you will get a form to select options. Based on options it will show the list of documents that you need.  These are the documents you will need. NO Additional documents are required. In fact, I called the customer support as well and they said the same list and my experience at Passport Seva Kendra says the same.  You do NOT require additional documents.  Do NOT listen to others.

Indian Passport Renewal Documents Checklist

Below are the typical documents that you need to carry to the passport office, depending on your situation.

  •  You must print out the online form that you printed out with the Application Reference Number(ARN) and carry it with you. It is mandatory to have this document with you.
  • Original Old Passport that is expiring or expired
  • Same Address as in your Old Passport :
    • You do NOT need anything other than the photocopy of your passport’s first page, last page, and the page with ECNR info. You will do self-attestation ( your own signature)
    • You may carry current address proof like a utility bill or Bank statement or Voter card, etc… see below for some of those documents.
  • Change in Address – Different one from your Old passport address
    • Just like above,  first, last and ECNR page photo copy with self attestation
    • Address proof of change in address – Any one of the below is acceptable.
      • Any one of the  Utility bills like Water, Telephone, Electricity Bills –  You need at least for 2 months  of which one should be of current year and other should be of previous year.
      • Proof of gas connection. If you are submitting utility gas bill, PSK will ask for two of those from past two months. Make sure you carry two of them. This was shared by our reader Karthik.
      • Ration Card with address .
      • Bank Statement  for 1 year, Passbook of the bank account with address on it.
      • Any of the cards like Aadhar card, Voter ID, etc.
  • Add Spouse Name, Change
    • If you would like to add your spouse name, carry original and photo copy of your marriage certificate. It is required. You need a photo copy that needs to be self attested.
    • If you plan to change any details like names, etc, you need to carry original with photo copy signed by you.

There may be other set of documents that you may be asked from the website, if some exceptions for your case. That’s why always check passportwebsite.

Step 5:  Go to the passport Office (PSK) for the Appointment

If you have got a slot, go at that exact time or 15 min before, no need to go there and wait outside.  If you are eligible for walk in, you can do that.  The process at PSK is very straightforward and they have clear steps for the process.

High Level Process inside the PSK:

  1. Section A – Processing Counter : You will go to their waiting lounge, where you will be able to work with the first processing center and they will be named as Section A. These are usually TCS outsourcing employees who will verify everything and then issue you a token number to go to next section
  2. Section B – Verification Counter: This section is called Section B and it is where your documents are re-verified and corrections are done. You will wait in the waiting hall, where you can see the queue number and go to the respective counter. Here you will be asked to sign electronically, your biometrics will be taken and all the relevant documents will be scanned, if you have not submitted them online. This is also handled by the outsourcing company such as TCS, you will find this step very efficient as well.
  3. Section C – Granting Counter: This is the section where the actual passport granting happens. It is handled by an Indian Govt. Officer who will verify everything and grant issuance of your passport. This is called as Section C. This can take time here and it can be long. Again, here also there is also queue and you will need to wait for the token number to be called. The officer may ask a question or two and grant passport if all is fine with your application.
  4. Exit: You will exit at the last step after Section C, where you will be asked by the security guard to show the appointment letter and he may stamp on the acknowledgement paper for your reference.

Below is the screenshot of the process flow on how it will work inside a PSK by flow. It is taken at the PSK in Bangalore.

Indian Passport Renewal Experiences

Below are real experiences shared by our readers A G Bhat,  in Bangalore and Mrinal from Mumbai. Thanks to them for sharing his experience. Also, we have many other experiences in the comments, do check them out.

Passport Re-issue Experience at Mumbai

I had my Indian Passport renewal today in Mumbai(Andheri PSK) as my passport was expiring within 1yr. Got appointment for 9.15AM IST and was asked to report at 9am. (Under Regular processing) . Process was very smooth and straightforward and I was complete in 1hr time (primarily due to preparation and early slot).

Passport Re-issue Process at Mumbai

1. I had actually downloaded the PDF first and filled it and kept so that any trials errors needed were done on that.
2. I was having minor difficulty uploading it probably because i renamed etc. However I used the filled PDF as entry for Online application (Which also can be saved and filled over multiple attempts like for any college /visa application).
3. The form was submitted.
4. I have just moved back from US so I wrote my current Indian address which was also in my Aadhaar card . Mentioned US address for previous in last 1yr stay without state or county.
5. I had even uploaded PDF copy of all documents though not sure if it was any help today.
6. Paid online and booked appointment

Documents Required On Passport Appointment Day

1. Originals: Passport(old), Aadhaar (both top and bottom part: for Address proof and ECNR), 10th Marks card (for ECNR)
2. Copy of first 2 pages, last 2 pages and Page number 2 of passport which would either not mention anything or ECR. ( I had not taken page 2 and was asked to take photocopy at Passport Seva Kendra)
3. Copy of 10th marks card and Aadhar both top and bottom part. ( Had not taken copy of top part and had to take at PSK.)

Process at PSK for Passport Re-issue

At the PSK try to reach early for your reporting time. The entry is not based on sequence number assigned but based on your arrival for your reporting time. Once you enter, the originals, photocopy and application receipt are checked once and after all documents are confirmed you are asked to wait till they generate token number. After token number is generated you are asked to go inside and wait for 1st step in A counter.

At the A counter documents are scanned, photo taken, biometrics verified and signatures taken. Also they check if you want to enroll in Mobile Seva(Sms updates for Rs 40). If yes you pay in cash exact amount. Once done you are asked to goto B counter.

At B Verification Officer (VO) validates the entries again and puts his ticks & sign in the application. Once B is complete, one proceeds to C counter for Granting Officers approval who again verifies documents and stamps both the old passport ( Cancel & returned) and approval stamp for application,

Once that is done you are asked to proceed to exit counter where you are given acknowledgement receipt and asked to fill feedback form. The acknowledgement ideally mentions your passport approved post police verification.

Passport Renewal Experience  at Bangalore

My passport had expired three months back. I read the articles in this site and understood the procedure to be followed. After understanding the same clearly, I applied online and selected the slot at Bengaluru (Lalbhag) PSK. I applied on a Saturday and slot was available for very next Monday. However, I opted for a slot on Wednesday which I got. So there was no necessity for me to cancel the same and go for “walk in”. On Wednesday, my time was at 10.45 AM and I went there exactly at 10.30AM.

The process at PSK was exactly the same the Hyderabad PSK explained in this site. Courteous people, proper guidance at every stage, no confusion at all and no hassles. After successfully finishing the entire process I came out from PSK at 11.15AM, in just 30 minutes for whole process. I gave my feedback as “Excellent” for the service but I feel that this is too less a grade. World class experience indeed. Thanks to the vision of the External Affairs Department of Govt of India. And my thanks to all concerned, from Prime Minister and External Affairs Minister to TCS and every one in the PSK.

Along with my wife also had applied for re issue of her Passport. We both selected the same slot and went inside together and we both came out together. She could not believe that such things can happen in our country.

    • If you are residing at Pune then you have to renew in Pune. It is illegal to attempt to renew in Hyderabad.
You will need to provide adequate proof of your Pune address.

Dear Sir, I have confusion pls clear. in 2007 my father applied fresh passport for me. we are from tamil nadu we put father name as initials we usually dont use surnames so my father name is K.Thangavel, initial K stands karunakaran that is my father’s father name. In 2007 my father filled passport application from, in that he mistakenly filled his name Thangavel in the Surname column instead of in the first name column and karunakaran in first name column, now in my passport his name is typed as Karunakaran Thangavel instead of Thangavel Karunakaran. Thangavel Karunakaran is the very correct name. now am going to renew/reissue my passport, if i change his name to Thangavel Karunakaran. Should i need to submit my Father ID proof? to renew my Passport?. pls reply

    • Your US visa, Schengen Visa will be valid, even if they are in expired passport, if they have validity. Some visas like Malaysian visa is not valid, you need to get a new visa. So, you need to check with the specific countries embassies on their policy.

        1. As far as I know, there is no need for signature from references. You just need to provide their name, address details in the application.
        2. Yes, you can use the same account. See for option to create new application after you login.

It is called re-issue. You go for a passport re-issue with new address, very straight forward process like I described above. All you need to submit is your current address proof with Aadhar card, voter id.

    • Dipen,
It is a case by case basis and there is no set rule. In general for most cases, there should not be, if your passport has clear status on the system. Usually, they want to verify your identity from your references and not you directly. You will be informed and asked to report to the nearest police station, if your presence is needed.

      • Has a pleasant experience during reissue of passport.
Though at PSK in Pune it took 2.5 hours. the passport was delivered to given address on 7th day from that day. And this is for normal case (no tatkal).

It was indicated as “police verification” post issue.

Next pleasant shock was a police constable came home the same day evening to verified documents, took photocopies, asked couple of questions, took a fresh photograph and it was done.

No visits to police station. All done on flat 7-8 days!!

        Reply
    • Hello Dipen. There seems to be no discernable fixed way they handle. Recently, my wife and I renewed our passports almost 6 months before expiry. I am 61 and my wife is 59. There was no change of address or anything for both of us. I was pushed through the system with a Senior citizen token number while my wife obviously wasn’t.
After counters A and B, she had to go to C. For me, after A and B, I was directed to APO. I understand it had nothing to do with my senior status but to just move things along because counter C was experiencing a bottleneck. Other non-seniors too were sent to the APO.
When we collected our acknowledgements, I was cleared without polics verification required while for my wife it said pre-verification.
I feel it depends on the person handling your case at the final counter.

My passport will be expiring in NOv 2017 and I want to renew it. My current passport has my Mysore Address and so does my other IDs like AAdhar, PAN, Voter ID. I currently live in Bangalore. But I dont have any document to support my current Bangalore address. So my question is can I Renew my passport with the same address ( mysore Address) as in my old passport. This will be better because Mysore address is permanent as my parents will always be there.

    Reply
    • Technically, you can only renew from Bangalore. However, since you do not have necessary proof documents, it can be smoother to do it at Mysore. You are actually suppressing the info that you live in Bangalore. They will slap you with a fine of Rs 5000 if they find out. I don’t think there is any other repercussion.

        • The Airtel postpaid bill should be enough but they usually demand multiple address proofs. If not at the PSK, they will certainly demand more during police verification. Wait for some more replies.

      • Ashok,
It is same process, having visa stamps does not really matter. They put in a small stamp saying visas valid during submission process. If your US visas in expiring passport has validity, they will continue to be valid even with the new passport. Read US Visa Validity Old passport . Also, the details you have for current address proof should be sufficient I guess. I suggest you double check document advisor on the Passport website to be clear.

  14. I am currently living in delhi. My husband is applying for PR to Canada and all his docs for this are complete. I have applied for PCC and received the same from new Delhi Police for my stay in Delhi since Jan 2012. My passport was chamged and issued from delhi in 2014 due to address change and due to addition of spouse name after marriage.

Canadian PR process requires PCC for total period after attainment of 18 years of age. I lived in Vadodara prior to living in Delhi. I was issued a passport at Vadodara in year 2010.

    My questions are
    1. Do I need PCC from Vadodara?
    2. If yes do I need to go there or I can get it online based on my passports issued from Vadodara in 201 and subsequent passport issued from New Delhi in 2014.
    3. Do I apply for Vadodara PCC to PSK or Police commisioner?
    4. What are the documents to be submitted and how much time it may take?
    5. Do I enclose my Delhi police PCC with my documents.

This is a typical case which will benefit many people in such circumstances and gropping in dark as they get no material on line for this situation.

    • I am not an expert on Canadian immigration, not sure if that rule applies to you as spouse too…Also, I am not familiar with the PCC process, you will probably need to talk to customer service of passport office or walk-in to get more info. I wish I could help.
Also, if I may ask, please share your experience for PCC as it will help many like you…by emailing it to redbus2us (at) gmail.com, I will publish an article on the same.

    • Hi Brijeshja
As per IRCC requirement you need PCC for the entirety of the stay IF and only IF you have traveled to a foreign country for a more than 6 months of stay continuous or otherwise.
However the residing country’s PCC is essentially for a clean record to leave the country without any criminal implications. It does not request anything in particular to the amount of stay.
Also, factually, Indian government does not issue any specific duration of the stay on the PCC if you are currently residing here.
I hope this should clarify your concerns

    • I have applied for renewal of my passport today itself, including my husband name in passport. Now they are not asking for marriage certificate, even we don’t need to submit any proofs which says that we are husband and wife.
I have checked with customer care people also, they said that from previous year only marriage certificate is removed as a mandatory proof and don’t need to submit any documents. Just we can include the husband/wife name in passport.
My passport is approved and will receive it soon.

Problem is they have new address proof but they don’t have original birth certificate or educational certificate here. Would they need it for reissue

    Thanks,

    • MM,
I do not think they will ask for birth certificate for re-issue of passport, unless it needs correction. All you need is their proof of current address and proof that they are your parents, if they are staying with you. If you want to remove ECR stamp status, you will need to submit education certificate as proof, if not that will remain.

    • Hi !

I am facing a peculiar problem w.r.t address proof for Passport re-issue.
All of my documents such as Aadhaar card, Driving License and my Passport have my permanent address as Mumbai. Since I’ve been working in Hyderabad from the past 2.5 years, I am going for the re-issue process here at Hyderabad. However I don’t have any local address proof of Hyderabad. Here is what all I have already tried so far for address proof :

      1. Went into the local Post Office at Madhapur to enquire if I can get a Postal Address Proof card and they said this has been closed. I even called them just to confirm if its true and they said, they don’t do it.

      2. Logged into 2 of may bank portals to change the address online, but found that they have discontinued editing of address online. Upon calling them to inquire, I found that they will need solid address proof documents to update my address to Hyderabad..documents such as Registered Rental Agreement(not just on a rental agreement on a stamp paper !)

      3. My landlord is somewhat hostile for the whole rental agreement thing(probably for tax stuff or who knows) and generally I haven’t seen much rental agreement going on here anyway, so I want to keep this as the last option when I’ll just beg him to give me one 😛

      4. I work in a Pvt. Ltd company which is a small startup, so I highly doubt if an Address Proof letter from them will be enough for RPO. I don’t have a salary account as my salary transfers to my account in Mumbai.

So I’m now totally confused and left wondering how on can I get an address proof when each of them wants another address proof..a catch 22 like no other !

Will greatly appreciate any help in this matter because I want to go the direct route and it seems like if I just don’t have any option then only a Passport agent can help – probably they have internal contacts and can get some address proof letter signed from a Gazetted Officer for address proof..thats just my guess though.

      Thanks again,

      • Well, I would get the company letter with your address, that’s option 1. It does not matter, if it is startup or big company as long as there is really a physical company and they are registered. You can use the same letter to go your banks and get the address changed for the same. You are getting salary right, so talk to the same bank that you get salary credited and use your company letter. Other option is to convert your prepaid SIM card to postpaid and use that as address proof. Don’t need to go to agent and waste money. Just try the above, you should have success.

        • Thanks for the reply..wow it almost looked like you had a spy satellite hovering on me yesterday because just yesterday I did nearly exactly what you suggested!

          1. First I took the company letter from my employer and went to the bank branch here in Hyderabad(my salary credits to Mumbai branch) to update my address, however they flatly refused. I even pointed out that their very official website mentions this as a valid way to update address, but he said thats old info (Can never beat this one !). He mentioned that they only take Registered Rental Agreement or Aadhar to update and that its easy to update address on Aadhar and many are doing this way. But since I don’t want to lose my Mumbai address on Aadhar(as thats the only solid Mumbai ID proof I have), I thought of giving up this option – btw this is ICICI bank.

          2. Next I went to a local SBI branch and they said they can open an account with just an address certification letter from Company..voila good news ! I didn’t have all the docs, so today I’m going again to open the account.

          3. Later in the day I went to update my prepaid to postpaid at a Vodafone store and they treated me better than my mom would 😛 I had only gone to inquire about the process with no docs but ended up converting my prepaid to postpaid without carrying anything at all !. They not only took my photo at the store itself but also accepted my eAadhar letter sent by mail..no attestation even. I only had to fill my local address in the form and they didn’t need any proof for it..they said, they will come home to verify but I doubt if even this will happen.
I walked out of the store in flat 20 minutes and just had to wait for another 2-3 hours for SIM activation and tele-confirmation call for name and address verification.

          One last question :

Although my passport is expiring in September 2018, I wanted to take advantage of the 1 year gap and start the process of making my passport from October 2017 itself.

Since I’ll be opening an SBI account now, my transaction history will be only about 2 months by October. Does the PSK seek at least a one year transaction history in the passbook ? I saw that the official MEA site doesn’t mention 1 year but read that RPO people(owing to their own whims) don’t follow that and expect a year of transaction.

The same goes for my postpaid bills – will they seek a one year old bill as well as a recent bill for address proof ?

My plan now is to take 1). Company Letter 2). Two Vodafone postpaid bills and 3). Two months SBI passbook entry as address proof to RPO.

          • Good to hear. I am not sure, if they have any such requirements. Just having an account with photo passbook and postpaid phone bill should be sufficient. I do not think they require history. Check here . You should be fine, if you do it around October 2017 as you will have everything in good shape by then.

      • Thanks for the info..I’ll go ahead in Oct and update here how it goes !

A small update : A vodafone guy did come to my home to verify where I live. He just asked orally my period of stay in the current house and the company where I worked..easy peasy 🙂

  26. My present passport has been issued in Mumbai , which is my permanent residence. I am currently staying in Pune in rental accommodation but intend to return to Mumbai in a year or two.
    1. Will I have to apply to renew the passport in Pune?
    2. Is the rent agreement enough as I have no other address for Pune? All utility bills are in the landlord’s name and my mobile bill is on my permanent address.
    3. I wish that my new passport retains my Mumbai address. Will that happen or will it show the Pune address?
    4. My wife’s passport also needs renewal but the rent agreement is only in my name. What current address proof can she submit?

    • 1. Yes.
      2. Yes. Also, bank passbook with current address, employer letter with address, or telephone post paid will help.
      3. It will be Pune.
      4. Same, you can submit proof of spouse like marriage certificate.

      • Thank you for your help.
Besides my rent agreement, I have absolutely no other documents which can prove my residence address. All my bank and utility bills show my Mumbai address, which is my permanent address to which I would be returning probably in a year or so.
I can supply a letter from the company in Pune, which employs me as a consultant.

        • Emilio,
yes, company letter should help. Also, you should update your bank address with your current address and carry that as a backup, it should be the passbook with photo in it.

  29. The instructions helped. I finished the formalities without any hassle. But one little thing they do in PSK is that they need two gas bills to be produced. Its not mentioned in the “documents to be submitted” section. But they asked me to produce two original gas bills. I had to go to PSK twice because of this. Fellow citizens be aware of this please..

  33. Hi,
Thanks for your article. I would appreciate if you could advise me on the following :
My Passport got expired on 12-Jul-17 and I would like to apply or renew the same. I also would like to apply for a New Passport for my wife and daughter too(they do not have it at all). We got married in the church and we do not have a court marriage certificate but, we have the Marriage certificate from the Church. Also, my wife’s name is changed after marriage. We have got the Gazette from Maharashtra State Government for the name change. Will it be accepted by the Passport office? or Marriage Certificate is compulsory ? Please revert.

    • Well, you will need something that is issued by registrar of marriage. Check Q26 on Passport office . I guess or the name change, those documents should be fine. You should always check with the document advisor or passport seva kendra customer office to avoid issues.

  34. Hi Kumar,

Great Article!! Thank you so much for the valuable info.
My passport is also going to expire in less than 6 months from now. And I need to reissue my passport asap as I need to travel to Melbourne along with my husband this month end. We got to know this problem while we were about to book tickets. So, its very late already. Could you please advise how I can get it done urgently and asap?
I also have few queries –
    1) Does passport no change while reissuing it
    2) Is there any tatkal facility for renewal too and if yes how long does it take?
    3) Is a fresh booklet issued or only date change in the older one in PSK is done?
    4) If my old passport is issued in another state , can I do it in my current location PSK?

Please help. Also, can you share your Phone no please?

    Thanks,
    Mansi

    • Manaswini,
      1. Yes, it changes while it is re-issued
      2. Yes, check the document advisor, if you have few set of documents, you may be eligible. But, frankly, it takes a week or 10 days at the most with normal processing.
      3. It is a totally new book. They will return the old book with a stamp on front page.
      4. You can do it at any location where you reside. Does not have anything to do with your previous state or stay.

Please reach out to customer service of Passport office, they can help you, if you are not clear .Sorry, we do not provide phone support…this is community support 🙂

    • Vamsi,
You will need to typically submit your current address proof and Aadhar card. No need to upload the documents, it is optional. The PSK team will do it for you, when you are there.

  38. Hello,
I was called for police verification for passport reissue at my local police station today. After verifying my documents, the lady constable asked me to give her my passport size picture in soft copy. I had hard copies of my passport size pictures, but she refused to accept it. She insisted that i take a picture at home and whatsapp it to a number that she gave me. Her requirement seemed very odd to me. Please let me know whether any of you had to submit a soft copy of your photograph at the police station? If yes, were you provided a number or an official email Id to send the photograph?Thank you!

    • Well, I am not sure, how you would cancel your spouse’s passport or visa. If you have issues, you can work with a lawyer and file a case in court.
