  1. Hello,

Does any of you face the following problem ? when trying to see status ?

The application receipt number entered is invalid. Please check your receipt number and try again.

    Regular processing. No master degree.

  2. I have checked with my school today my sevis status shows change of status pending but no receipt no. does any one know what that mean ?? does it mean my application been selected??

    Plz respond

    • I am on the same boat. You are able to see your status on line when you plug your SEVIS receipt num.

If you do so we can compare our data. My sevis says that I am in the acceptance process — no Initial status, no final decision. Only acceptance.

So I am wondering the same. I dont even know if you SEVIS receipt num will be the same for your H1B visa application

Also they say that it may take several weeks to mail this info.

Let me know what you say ?

      Cheers!

      • i dont have sevis receipt no or anything i just called up my DSO in school and asked her check my status. and She told me my sevis status shows”Change of status pending” but it doesnt show any receipt number so i am not sure what does that mean though

        • yes i did my MS from US so it does apply to my case. So could u please walk me through how to get that number and where can i check my status ? is there a way to check ur sevis status online?

          Reply
          • Ok so you have to go to www.uscis.gov and the on the left side of the window there is a direct link that says enter your Receipt num.

Enter your EAC or WAC (Depending on where you were accepted or your state) and then the number all together. Ex: EAC184242s924…

If you dont know your receipt number then you may have to ask you school official but they may have already provided you with this info in any of the doc.

I know mine for sure cause I applied for an extension of F1 here in the US. So the receipt that they issue me contains the exact number

Let me know if this works. I d like to compare some data for anyone who is in the same process/case

            Thanks!

          • Mine look like this one…. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Form+I797A&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&biw=1093&bih=474&wrapid=tlif136647974125610&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=6dVyUYf5OInX0gGliYGgAw#imgrc=T5rihNLDVoYoWM%3A%3B7jqmpi8XDVpr0M%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fphd.up.seesaa.net%252Fimage%252FI797A.JPG%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fphd.seesaa.net%252Farchives%252F200606-1.html%3B360%3B480

Have you seen this recipt before? The Receipt num in on the bottom corner left side.

          • Sevis # is the number on your I-20 above the barcode starting with N, right…..?
If you don’t ask for extension, you dot get the same sevis record you are talking about…..? Not sure if I’m following…..
I’m on OPT which expired in August unless I get H1B…. Using the same sevis number since I went to college here in 2006 (and went on to masters in 2010).
Is this SEVIS # also updated once you’re selected in lottery?

  3. Anyone still waiting for AD/RP/CSC? Losing hope now. 🙁

Is anyone keeping track of CSC? I see the latest receipt nos posted on this site for WAC does not go beyond day 138 . Does that mean California is done? 🙁

        • SEVIS is a receipt that the US Gov gives you when you study in the US. Does it apply to you?
If yes I can walk your thorugh how to get this info.

          • How do you use SEVIS number to check H1B application status? Can you show me which website that I can enter my number in? Thanks

          • If you you SEVIS number. Go to the USCIS (uscis.gov) website and plug your number on the left hand side. starts either with EAC or WAC and there the entire number all together.

          • What do you mean by “starts either with EAC or WAC and there the entire number all together.”

            SEVIS is a 10-digital beginning with N.

  4. Hello everyone,

Quick question. I know some of you guys have been talking about checking you SEVIS so I did.

I am RP/Reg quota and I havent received yet anything from my lawyer but my SEVIS receipt says Acceptance (Will this be the first step?) because this step is set before “initial review” and “Decision” which I think will lead to approval/denial.

What do you think guys? I d suggest you all still wating out there to go and check your SEVIS because USCIS especifically says that RP will send it by mail and that cna take weeks…

        • It doesn’t matter how many years of experience you have got.
Check with your sponsoring company/attorney in which categories have they filed it.
PP or non PP depends if they paid extra $1225 to the case to be processed in 15 days.
AD or non AD depends if you obtained an advanced degree MS/PhD from US.

How much does it take for USCIS to send the papers to my employer? Mine was in regular-Premium processing.

    • Call up your university’s International students services and ask them if they can check if there is any update on your SEVIS. If they do, they may be able to tell you your receipt number. If the number begins with EAC, it’s VSC; if it begins with WAC, its CSC..
I did not hear from my employer, so I called up my university and they were able to give me my receipt number..

  12. Hi,

Yesterday, called my school and got the receipt number from them. So, guys please keep up the hope and try this option too. Even If they say they don’t have it yet, we still have hope of getting it in the next few days. So, keep fingers-crossed and just wait.

    Mine is AD/RP/VSC.

Did anyone receive emails for PP today?? Please let me know.

  13. Just received the receipt from my employer. Receipt was directly sent to my company address.

    AD/Regular/VSC
    EAC 13134-xxxxx

    Receive Date: 8th
    Notice Date: 13th

Company lawyers had no clue about anything. Today morning even our company lawyers said that they have not heard anything back from USCIS.

Excited, but need to wait months for approval.

To every one who are waiting, hang in there, it is not over till you get your packet back. They will need another 2 weeks to send all the receipts out.

    • Congrats Buddy

Can you or anyone in this forum let me know how receipts are sent,

      1. Whether USCIS enters receipt no first and then send us email or mail to concerned attorney ?
      2. Email or Mail is sent first and then data entered in USCIS website?
      3. As soon u received the receipt number from attorney what is the status of your petition in USCIS website ?

Even I am an applicant waiting for Regular Quota & Regular Processing (Vermont Center) 🙂 Praying and hoping for the best

      • 1) Email is applicable to only premium processing people. For regular processing, they will directly mail via USPS to the concerned people.
        2) USPS mail.
        3) Mine is in Initial Review phase.

  15. I just contacted my school’s international office, here is his explanation about SEVIS status,

“a receipt number does not indicate H-1B selection or approval—anyone who may have submitted an H-1B petition would eventually have a number, but this update in SEVIS is automatic, and as I said does not guarantee an H-1B. ”

I am still waiting, AD/PP/VSC, hope we can make it, good luck

    • Hope,

please do not trust international student office. I have been studying my bachelors, masters and doctorate for about 7 year and 4 universities. (University of Missouri Kansas City, University of Southern California, New York University and Fairleigh Dickinson University ). My person experience says “DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT INTERNATIONAL STUDENT OFFICE says at first time”. They all make up things. Specifically people around advisor, loves to give incorrect information.

To answer your question, they are partially correct. Receipt number does not mean you are approved for H1B. It only means you are selected in the lottery.

        • yes, I received it yesterday with Advanced Degree/Regular Processing/California Service Center.

My immigration advocate told me, master’s student will not have much problem getting in lottery. It’s just that you have to be little more patience.

          Good Luck!

  16. Does anyone has any idea about lottery result declaration for applicant under Regular Quota and filed under Regular Processing.Till date I have not heard any response from my employer.
It is really frustrating to wait for the result so long, given the fact receipt only signifies selection in lottery.

    • All the premium cases (advanced degree + regular) are being notified first. Last week, people received email receipt of the selected ones. This week, people received paper mails of the receipt. Expect to start receiving notification on regular cases towards end of next week.

  18. Friends !
I am Regular/Regular. Waiting for lottery results.
Here is my simple calculation: Assuming there is no rejection, in this situation every 3.4 out of 5 will get H1.
Assuming 15% rejection rate based on previous years: 4 people will get H1 out of 5.
    Happy ?

People who have recieved reciepts with Normal Degree / Normal processing (Non PP) is very less. So is there still hope for Normal Degree / Normal processing. Is USCIS first processing in the following order
    a) AD/PP
    b) Normal / PP
    c) AD / Non PP
    d) Normal / Non PP
