  2. Hi, is there any expert in this blog to clear my doubt on lottery pick?
    Whether the lottery pick takes place in random manner or in sequence?…bcoz I and my spouse applied for H1b on the same day through same employer..however, I received my receipt number but still waiting for my spouuse’s. Could any one throw some light on this please….

    • I am also in same situation. Let me know if you get any update on the same. I will update if I have any news.

      As per my understanding, it is random in nature. My employer filed all the petition in a single day. As it is a small Company, we were able to file all the application on the first day itself.

      I was first to receive it from my Company. 2-3 more people have received after I got it. So, I blive this is random. I am not 100% sure though.

  3. My employer have updated the receipt number and the my case status is
    On April 8, 2013, we received this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.
    Can anyone update me what does it mean?? Am I selected or what?

    I got this autogenerated email from my company,

    “This is to inform you that your visa application petition has been prepared by Shared Services Group and sent to Onsite Team” .

    Does this mean..my H1B visa application is picked in lottery

        • that email was received by everyone for whom visa was initiated in system. Sorry to say this but you have to wait a little longer to get a confirmation email from ur visa team or managers..

          i m in same line… hopes are still alive

  7. Hi

    As per USCIS official website :

    “If you do not receive your application within 30 days of mailing your application please contact our nation customer service center at 1-800-375-5283”

    My application was filed on April 1.Does it mean that if till date my employer has no information about my case ,it is not selected in lottery process?

    My employer is not ready to call the service center and has asked me to still wait.

    If that logic is extrapolated, Monday should be last date for expecting results?(considerting 5th April to 5th May)

    • where did you get this update from? I don’t see it on their website either in News or Alert section. Please share the source, possible a URL.

      It may not be applicable when lottery happens in the first week of the cap just due to sheer load of petitions pending w/ USCIS.

    I received receipt on 26 april EAC13144XXXXX, but I and my spouse applied on the same day. Could you please explain how the lottery works? is the applications come in a sequence way or a random pick? please explain

    • I guess, it is sequential. My wife’s and my application were selected in lottery. We got the receipts from Vermont and the receipt numbers were resembling that they were processed based on the acceptance date of the applications.

  13. I got my receipt no on Apr 29. Was very surprised to my apllication get approved so quickly on May 2. Mine is RP/RQ/Vermont.

      Congrats. Can you pls let us know your first five digits after EACXXXXX so that we can track the approval speed.

      I got my receipt on 26 April receipt date was EAC13140xxxxx

  14. ok. I had applied through one of the desi employer and he gave me a petition number . I was not able to verify if it was mine nor was he giving me the i797 Form . Hence i tried self check. Like Saurabh mentioned . I found nothing useful and i got a status mismatch . Canlled the self check office . After discussing on my issue for some time , the nice lady was able to give me the petition number 🙂 ..

    Note that at any point you may not want to lie.

    Anyone with same scenario try this .

  15. Today i got my receipt number. Mine is RQ/RP/VSC.

    Mine reached USCIS on 5th April.

      does that mean, i am not selected in lotery…. becuase you know ur status though u filed doc submitted on 5th april ?

        Although this has been discussed for over 1 month now, let me spell out for you:
        – If petition reached USCIS on April 1, then you were part of the lottery and need to wait for your result
        – If petition reached USCIS on April 2, then you were part of the lottery and need to wait for your result
        – If petition reached USCIS on April 3, then you were part of the lottery and need to wait for your result
        – If petition reached USCIS on April 4, then you were part of the lottery and need to wait for your result
        – If petition reached USCIS on April 5, then you were part of the lottery and need to wait for your result
        – If petition reached USCIS on any other day, then you were not part of the lottery and are already rejected.

        Let me know if that’s not clear.

    I had called chennai visa cell today, they are saying check with ISU RMG and Project Management Team. I have not heard anything from them …

        Keep One friend as TCS representative ( Which is true ) .
        Get the TIN numer from W2 of ur onsite co ordinator.

    Recieved Date – 8th April, Notice Date – 26th April.

    I am a silent follower of this forum & was thinking when i will get a chance to write
    that i got selected in lottery.

    I never checked my mails this often until today.Was waiting waiting waiting & waiting
    for just one mail.Finally got that today at 12.00 when my employer emailed me those golden words & I got my receipt number.

    I believe receipt numbers are still getting generated ..so guys just wait until mid may.
    You will definitely get it..I pray to god for everyone..

  31. I’m still waiting for the H1 – RQ/RQ. But right now i got selected in Diversity visa lottery (green card). But as I have read that it will take time up time 1 year when I will receive my green card. Does anybody of you know if I’ll get now H1 then can I start working from october in US and where should I do the interview for green card – in my country or in US?

  37. I got my Receipt today from my employer.. h4 visa fee Check is cleared yesterday. Mine is RQ/RP/VSC and Receipt Number is EAC-13-148-***** Notice date April 29 and Received date April 8.

    They is still scope to get the receipt. Pray and have faith on God almighty…

    Have your employers call USCIS. You can join a conference call. But USCIS will diverge details only to your employer. So, request your employers to call USCIS. At least you will get some updates about your application.

  43. Hey…my employer said the cheque was cleared on yesterday for my petition…RP/RQ..Still the hope is there…Dont loose your hope…God will make a way where there seems to be no way….

      • Oh OK… so we can keep hopes till end of may ?? i saw ppl saying that if our application is filed on 1.april then we should get some updates by 30days. So in my case that 30days span is over here. my employer said that they haven’t got any updates from USCIS

    • Am in the same boat, but hope is still alive. USCIS is done processing with PP applicants, maybe busy mailing responses. Now will take over cases of RP. It may quite be possible that they are sending the remainder RP receipts from where they left off (12-Apr-2013), So keep your hopes till you get a response from attorney/employer. My employer filed 455 petition. 60% have got receipts, and remainder are waiting. Attorney are sending in batches not on daily basis. Mine is Indian IT firm, not sure of yours but still hope is alive. In case you are in USA, you might give a shot at this link as referred earlier in forum: htps://selfcheck.uscis.gov/SelfCheckUI/

      Have your employer call USCIS. or you can join in a conference call.

      USCIS will not inform your employer unless your employer calls specifically.

    • I got mine yesterday. The receipt was printed on Apr 26th. They are still doing data entry and sending receipts, so don’t lose hope .

    • no dude…hyderabad visas are saying that they do not have any info and they are waiting for update from onsite team….not sure how many days these guys are going to play with us.

    • I got a auto generated mail , and it is mentioned

      “your visa application petition has been prepared by Shared Services Group and sent to Onsite Team ”

      Chennai Visa Office has no information about it, they said its a auto-generated mail.

    I called my employer today and got the information that my petition checks has been cleared.
    Waiting for my receipt number with finger crossed!

    I have been following this form from 8th April and all of your comments helped me to wait with Patience and confident.

  50. My H1b filed on RQ/PP. Receipt received date on 29th april. Now status shows up received o. 8th n its on initial review. Isn” t it supposed to be done withing 15 days if it is PP process. Any advice plz.thank you

    • H1B RQ/PP,
      For PP petitions, 15 calendar day window started from April 15th. So you should have either received approval or RFE by April 30th. If not, then your attorney should follow-up w/ USCIS. Is the current online status still displayed as Initial Review?
