    My employer told me that thay have received receipt for my application today(RQ/RP). They are yet to update the receipt details to me. I am so much relived after hearing this news.

      I have applied/tried H1 B visa through a ‘ Desi Consultant’ . He is saying i did nt get picked in lottery . IS there a way I can find out if he has applied my Visa .Does USICS sends some letter to all those not picked in lottery ? .

      Please advise . I am having a sad feeling that he did not applied my visa and just fooling me or many folks like me .

  7. Hi, I got mi number last week from Vermont. I know approval can take 2/3 months.
    Do anyone knows what happens during those 2 month? I mean , I have to do nothing and then one day they send and email saying you have the approval? Or they contact you asking for some info?

  8. RQ/RP/CSC ….didn’t get receipt yet…Is it all over for me ?? My application had been send on 2nd and it got received at CSC on 3rd..

      • My application has reached VSC on 1st of April at 11:23AM, according to FEDEX tracking details.
        I have not received any status till now about the receipt, my consultant says “hope for best” as they have not yet received any update regarding my case.

        Is there any hope that is left for ppl waiting till now, am in RQ/RP/VSC

      To call uscis for application status,WHAT IS THE data that wee need to have.
      curently i have courrier tracking number ,employer name and address.
      Please let me know what else we need more.

      • So, get on the phone as a conference call: USCIS, you and your employer. Your employer has to be present. Else USCIS won’t tell you, the beneficiary, anything. Do it on May 1st. That will be 30 days since they received your application. You will know for sure.

  10. Guys I am RQ/RP. My employer told me today out of 40 they applied only 5 havent got the receipt yet and told me they cannot tell me anything unless they recieve the receipt . I am one of those who havent got it yet.
    my opt expires this next month, so should I just keep working?

  11. I got the receipt from my Attorney on 22 April. My case status is still in “Initial Review” stage. 1 weeks have already passed. I’m worried. how many days more I have to wait for the final decision ?? Can anybody tell me ?

    Thanks to everybody to help me get through this tough time.
    Got my receipt this am.
    California center.
    Receipt date 4/8/13: Notice date 4/24/13
    Checks are not yet cashed.

    We cannot just go by USCIS cashing checks. They will cash them sometime when they are processing your application. So, if your checks are cashed, you were selected. If checks were not cashed, PLEASE DO NOT LOSE HOPE.

    Also, when I called USCIS Friday last week, (when I did not have receipt notice), they asked that I have my employer call them 30 days after they received my application. ( for me it was 3rd May)

    Means, all of those who do not have receipts yet, just wait patiently this week and pray.

    Call USCIS next week and get to know for sure if you were selected or not.

    I received email from employer this morning that case has been accepted for processsing and they have got receipt number.
    WAC /RD/RP, receipt number WAC-13-140-52***
    received date: April 8, 2013

  18. Hi All,

    I belong to RQ/RP category. Called my employer today and got the answer that they received around 33 receipt but not for me. I got heart broken and cried for half an hour. Then suddenly my husband told me he got the call from the other employer that our cash got encashed and he is waiting for receipt. I am on H4 from past 1 year and don’t wanna take any chance this time, so applied from two employers.Otherwise was planning to go back as I can’t sit idle anymore. Don’t lose hope.

        Justgotlucky did not do anything illegal. As long as your H1 is filed by seperate employers, you are OK. So, Justgotlucky is fine.

  19. So, just a quick question – for people who haven’t received their receipt numbers, does that mean they were not selected in the lottery? I ask this because I haven’t received my application back either.

    • Or in other words, has anyone received their package back? I am just trying to figure if USCIS waits until after all the receipts notices are sent out to start sending the applications or if its a simultaneous process?

Recieved mail from employer this morning that case has been accepted for processsing and they have got reciept number…..It’s regular quota and regular processing….But they are not sharing reciept with us till mid may….. Thank u all for helping us with information and support during all these waiting days (tough period)….

    Wish all of u get it as well…still time is there….looks like reciept will keep coming atleast till mid may for regular processing cases……All de best!!!

    I have a question. I got my receipt more than one week ago, the accountant just looked at our bank account but the checks issued to USCIS are still not cleared. Does anyone have the same issue? Is there any problem? What should I do??

  25. Hi there, on April 22nd my lawyer got an email saying that USCIS mailed a RFE on April 22nd. I just checked the status of my application and now it says that they mailed the RFE on April 26th. Makes me think that CSC sends all their mail on Fridays… Anyone waiting for RFE letter?

  29. are RQ/RP mostly done getting the receipts. is there any hope left for regular processing this week?
    I mean is the USCIS done sending out the receipts? or they are still in the process of mailing the receipts??

  33. I have a scenario now. Got my application selected in lottery, got the receipt number and currently in Inial Review; Filed through a consultant, with intention to immigrate to USA with new job. Now, my current employer got an urgent client requirement in germany and got my work permit filed and processed. The scene is, am flying to Germany next week, and shall be there till mostly end of next year. Is it possible to schedule the H1B interview in Germany? Also, is there any clause that after getting Visa stamped, you should be in USA and start getting paid by your H1B Sponsorer immediately or any time period by which I should be in USA? Can I stay till early next year in Germany, and then after completion of my assignment, fly to USA?

    • @H1B Applicant,

      I guess there is a provision to update the address in your H1 application.
      Not sure if it can be a internation change in address.
      Answer to Ur second question: 1. Once your petition is approved, you can come and go for an interview till the petition’s expiry date. Normally a year.
      2. In case you have your visa stamped, then you will have a validity date .. Again normally an year but depends on the difference in days between ur petition approved date and stamping date. If the delta is more u may end a near expiry date like 6 months before which you need to enter US port of entry so that ur H1 remains valid. In case you done enter within a year ur visa stands cancelled.

      But you are going great guns..Multiple visas …

  34. Well I have been closely following this forum since some time..
    Let me give me the news first… I got selected in the H1 lottery and received by receipt today.
    The Receipt date mentioned is 8th of April(Vermont) but my employer has received the same today i.e 29th April 2013.. Lot of days between actual and received date? Ain’t it?
    I was also undergoing the same tension but I guess bit more than most of them here.Having said tht coz H1 was my last option as the other visa categories are closed for me due to prior rejections.
    So after facing rejections ,this was my last option in hand. “ABHI NAHI TOH KABHI NAHI for me”. Getting the receipt is a peace for me but won’t celebrate till I get Visa Stamped on my passport as my LUCK oscillates..

      Me too in the same boat — I heard that our VISA team has got the lottery results, but they are not revealing it to anyone — when we will come to know —- Any guess — fully tensed and not able to concentrate on work 🙁

    • When do they normally start revealing the results in tcs, absolutely no idea !!
      I am regulary the checking VTS on ultimatix and the information on this portal huh ….

      Did your employer just gave you the receipt number or he gave you a document contaning the name and the receipt number? I also got mine RQ/RP/VSC but my employer have not shared the name. He just told me the receipt number. please respond asap.

  37. Is there a way we get to know whether my application rejected or picked up in lottery.
    if rejected, when will get the courier back…. its already April end now so i am worried now

      hello there is no other alternate way to know about your lotterry status..just wait till the 2nd week of May and if you still do not hear from USCIS then you can understand that your application is not through the lottery process…
      -Ask your employer/sponsor whether the check got credited or not; if yes, then u can assume that u r selected in lottery.

        • RQ/RP waiting for receipt..tried calling the USCIS few times calling as applicant it didnt work.. I think USCIS should make provision to check it ourselves else make it mandatory for the desi consultants to give the i797 form..

    • i am in the same boat. but am afraid, there is no other way. wait for the receipt to come or else in worst case ask attorney to send you the rejection packet. Anyways nothing can be changed now. So pray for you and for me too 🙁

      At first my attorney did nt give me the courier tracking no. Then I mailed her twice. at last, she shared the courier tracking No.

      I dnt think there is any other alternate way.Try to contact with them once again. It’s the only think u can do right now. or wait for some more days , maybe there is still no update in your case.

      Mine is RQ/RP/CSC
      Petition filed on April 1.
      Lawyer mailed me on April 22 informing about the lottery result.
      Now, It’s in Initial Review stage.
      “Initial Review

      On April 8, 2013, we received this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

      During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant’s/petitioner’s criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.”

      • some employers do not share any data until august, they keep it confidential as employee may quit if his petition is not selected. Though this is not fair but it happens in some companies. So be careful and keep eye plan it well.

  47. For all people who have not yet got their receipt numbers – please call USCIS and find about your application status. This is the fastest way to find out. You will need the Tax id of your employer, employer postal address and the name of the person who signed the application (employer). If your employer is an e-verified employer, you can get the tax id (also called FEIN) from the USCIS site…search for e-verify in search dialog box.

  48. My employer told me that I got selected in the lottery and they got the receipt on Tuesday.However they are not giving me the receipt number since its their company policy.

    They told me that the status is Initial Review.

  49. hi everyone, i know that this lottery is not fair and it sucks. nevertheless, please don’t lose hope. receipt numbers are currently being sent to all employers. just pray, whatever the outcome, have faith in God. You’ll be surprised to see that you’ll get your receipt number and visa will be approved
