USCIS updated the latest cap count update and the H1B cap count as of August 6th, 2010.  Here is an update since previous cap numbers :

  • New 1,200 Cap eligible H1B visa petitions were filed for Regular Quota.
  • New 300 cap eligible H1B petitions for Advanced degree cap .

August 6th , 2010 USCIS official Total H1B cap count update :

Regular H1B Cap H1B filings 28,500    of total 65,000
Advanced degree cap filing count 11,900    of total 20,000
Total H1B visa petitions received 40,400 of total 85,000

Analysis of H1B filings this week. Job Market in India vs USA

The H1B petitions filing pace is pretty much inline with last week Aug 3rd H1B visa Cap Update . The regular cap filings reduced by 100 from 1300 to 1200, that’s not a huge difference and the advanced cap stayed exactly the same…There has been some  breaking news of H1B and L1 fee increase by $2000 in the last week that may increase the H1B and L1 costs for Indian Companies and impact their bottom line. The bill was passed by senate and is supposed to be voted today in House. From an economy standpoint, lots of temporary jobs were shed as census workers were let go. Private sector added around 71,000 jobs, but they say that is not sufficient to keep up the population growth…The good part is, jobs have been added consistently this year, but they are not able to push for speedy recovery…the unemployment rate is still at 9.5%. Though the numbers does not look very promising, the numbers are better than some of the expectations. If you do not know, the way industry works is, if there was a forecast by an analyst and the real numbers beat the expectations, people are happy and the wall street swings up!  It is all about setting expectations for people… It will be very interesting to see how everything is going to turn out with the big visa fee increase and other things happening… It seems to me that we will have the cap last at least until end of this year…let’s see… for more, read CNN July Jobs report on economy

Hi,
Quick question, my notice date is July 26th..and my starting working date requested on my application is October 1st…Although the approval is suppose to come in about two months (that would be September 26th) it stands to reason that I should be getting that approval way before October 1st, right? so I can set up the appointment at the embassy back in my country and wait for the final approval of the H1B and start working on that date…

After all this rambling I guess I only need your confirmation that the I-797 notice of approval is necessarily coming before October 1st given that my lawyer requested October 1st as initial working date…or is October 1st just a deadline that does not imply you will be getting anything before that time?…

Thank you very much…

Yes, you are right Edith ! In fact, few of my German friends are leaving to their country after MBA to work there itself.

Hello,
I have a lot of friends in Europe and if they were willing to come 3 years ago, the US is less attractive to them, Euro versus Dollar…..even if they all love the new President they are aware of what is going on in Arizona and other states and they do not like it. Some of my friends choose to come to study first and see what is happening so they have more time to decide if they want to work here or go back…but the American dream is still alive !
I think it all depends from which country you are coming from. I know also few people from South America choosing Canada instead of USA because of the political climate here, they think they are not welcome anymore, so sad.
So a lot of factors are involved in the immigration process but one think is sure, the US is no more number one….
