Flash News Update  : 

  • May 5th : USCIS announced today that data entry of all FY15 H-1B cap petitions has been completed. USCIS will now begin returning all H-1B cap petitions that were not selected in the lottery. They have announced it on their twitter and facebook pages.
  • April 18th : USCIS announced that they will begin H1B FY 2015 premium processing from April 28th, 2014. Previously they announced that they will begin, ‘no later than April 28th’. They just clarified that. You can read on USCIS website

When will H1B Visa 2015 Season Begin ?

USCIS accepted H1B Visa 2015 applications from April 1st, 2014. They had the window open for 5 working days. USCIS stopped accepting H1B Petitions for FY 2015 from Monday April 7th as more applications were received than the required cap of 85,000 petitions.

What would be the Cap count for H1B Visa 2015 quota ?

No changes to the H1B Cap for FY15, the immigration reform discussions did not go through, the cap limit remained same as last year.

  • Regular H1B Quota : 65,000
  • Masters H1B Quota : 20,000
  • It is to be noted that 6,800 visas every year are set aside for Singapore and Chile Free trade agreement filings, which is called as H1B1 program.

Would there be lottery for H1B Visa 2015 ?

How soon should I start planning for H1B Visa 2015 ?

[ Updated : H1B Sesaon is over for FY 15, plan for next year FY 2016 ] Well, there is nothing like too early… Getting a good H1B Sponsor can be a challenge these days. You need to find a job that fits your profile and find a sponsor that has a job for you.  Some employers want to test out the capabilities of the candidate before they plan to sponsor H1B Visa. Typically, they would like students with masters from US work for them on internship or co-op.  If they like the candidate then they will sponsor H1B visa.  If you are planning to land in US from overseas countries like India, it could be even challenging to find a good sponsor. Maybe you would need to work with global IT services companies and make your way up. It can involve lot of internal process to get the process initiated… You are never early…. How do I find Sponsors for H1B visa 2015 ?

This is probably the most asked question.  It can be a challenge to find a good sponsor. We have written quite a few articles on this topic. The fundamental concept of finding a good employer does not change.  You can use our H1B Visa Sponsors Database  and search for sponsors in a city or zip code. What would be the H1B Filing fee for Fiscal year 2015 ? 

There has not been any changes in the filing fee for the past couple of years. It did not change for fiscal year 2014.  The  H1B Visa 2015 filing fee can range anywhere from  $1,575 to $4,325  based on the size of the company (number of employees ). Also, the attorney fee can range from $700 to $3000. H1B Visa Immigration Reform – CIR – Proposed Changes ? The comprehensive immigration reform has not passed yet.  But, lets say, if it gets passed, the below changes may happen.

  • Annual H1B Cap will be increased from 65,000 per year to 110,000. If exteme demand, it can go up to a maximum of 180,000.
  • The H1B quota for STEM degree holders from American Schools will increase from 20,000 to 25,000
  • H1B Visa fees can up to USD $10,000.
  • More stringent rules on H1B visa adjudication.
  • Mandatory LCA posting on DOL website for at least 30 days, before it is certified.

    Yesterday i got confirmation from my employer that i picked in the lottery and they will send the receipt as soon as they get from USCIS. Can any one tell what is the next process?

    • Take out your girl friend and enjoy… If not treat your friends taking them away to a culinary trip.

      If nothing you found interesting,,, have a full Johny Walker or 4 beers. and perhaps you can develop a beer belly…

        • Odds are stacked against us… So anything can happen…. Not sure til you take up new assignment in USA…..Though it is high risk, the possibility is less then 5 %… So dont worry,,,, Enjoy this moment…

    Anyone got the confirmation mail yesterday/today? Is OOC really started notifying? Did Anyone contact OOC ? I tried, there’s no response. This wait is making me restless man !. Please share if you have any update.

    • Few people got updates from OOC this year…

      I heard that last year OOC sent H1B updates from May 2nd week to End of June…

  19. I have a US degree and work full time in a company in US. Last year they filed for 5 H1Bs and all 5 came through (on various dates, one came on May 6). This year we’ve only got 1 out 5 so far. Do I still have hope for AD RP? I talked to the lawyer yesterday and she said it’s unlikely now. I can apply next year one more time before my STEM expires.

      That message is for H1 only.. can you please share receipt number.. so that we can conclude that USCIS is still generating receipts… Please give the receipt number…

  25. How many of you naughty boys have this dirty idea in mind to f@k and ditch your P’I’mpo’sys’, ‘W’hore’pro’ and ‘T’ea ‘C’offee ‘S’amosa companies in 2015 after they send you on H1 to USA..??

    We should sign a petition to make H1B of these MNC’s more like L1B which will restrict dudes to jump companies. Otherwise these MNC’s will apply for H1B’s every year.

    • Yes. Few of my friends from HCLS vertical got receipts. But they are from Mumbai. Nobody from pune recieved emails yet!

    • If you are Attorney->Employer->Employee– then you can wait 2-3 weeks time.
      as WAC14139**** to WAC14144**** are getting received now..there are RN till 152 (atleast I have seen WAC1415250013)..

      so be patiance till that time.

      • It is not mandatory to gt updated in this forum who got receipts.

        Guys who are of 145* to 152* might already received it and they don’t know this site.

        One more thing you have to think is all those big MNC’s received their receipts to the immigration dept. Thing is they haven’t disclosed to their employees.

        My attorney will inform as the first thing as soon as she receive it. Guys of MNC’s wait till end of may as immigration dept is delaying in informing you guys.

        Guys of small companies/consultancies/some other whose attorneys are in touch with you wait for one more week, after that it is almost null.

        I am in direct contact with attorney and my employer gave me full privilege to deal with attorney.

        SO there won’t be any delay in the news.

        Guys from MNC’s have to follow that process “Attorney->Employer->Employee”.

    • Hi guys,

      WIPRO will not share the receipt numbers unless the H1B status is RFA. Only confirmation mail will be sent to the employees those who got selected in lottery. Receipt numbers will be shared during Visa Interview. To the best of my knowledge, few people in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad received confirmation mail from OOC on 6th May. I heard, one person in Chennai received confirmation mail Yesterday (May 7th).

    • I think ODC guys are the luckiest as they have the receipts!!! None of the employees have received receipt as of now.

      • I guess some employees will bribe them in the name of lunch or dinner or drinks… did you hear anyone doing that… and getting required information.
