Flash News Update  : 

  • May 5th : USCIS announced today that data entry of all FY15 H-1B cap petitions has been completed. USCIS will now begin returning all H-1B cap petitions that were not selected in the lottery. They have announced it on their twitter and facebook pages.
  • April 18th : USCIS announced that they will begin H1B FY 2015 premium processing from April 28th, 2014. Previously they announced that they will begin, ‘no later than April 28th’. They just clarified that. You can read on USCIS website

When will H1B Visa 2015 Season Begin ?

USCIS accepted H1B Visa 2015 applications from April 1st, 2014. They had the window open for 5 working days. USCIS stopped accepting H1B Petitions for FY 2015 from Monday April 7th as more applications were received than the required cap of 85,000 petitions.

What would be the Cap count for H1B Visa 2015 quota ?

No changes to the H1B Cap for FY15, the immigration reform discussions did not go through, the cap limit remained same as last year.

  • Regular H1B Quota : 65,000
  • Masters H1B Quota : 20,000
  • It is to be noted that 6,800 visas every year are set aside for Singapore and Chile Free trade agreement filings, which is called as H1B1 program.

Would there be lottery for H1B Visa 2015 ?

How soon should I start planning for H1B Visa 2015 ?

[ Updated : H1B Sesaon is over for FY 15, plan for next year FY 2016 ] Well, there is nothing like too early… Getting a good H1B Sponsor can be a challenge these days. You need to find a job that fits your profile and find a sponsor that has a job for you.  Some employers want to test out the capabilities of the candidate before they plan to sponsor H1B Visa. Typically, they would like students with masters from US work for them on internship or co-op.  If they like the candidate then they will sponsor H1B visa.  If you are planning to land in US from overseas countries like India, it could be even challenging to find a good sponsor. Maybe you would need to work with global IT services companies and make your way up. It can involve lot of internal process to get the process initiated… You are never early…. How do I find Sponsors for H1B visa 2015 ?

This is probably the most asked question.  It can be a challenge to find a good sponsor. We have written quite a few articles on this topic. The fundamental concept of finding a good employer does not change.  You can use our H1B Visa Sponsors Database  and search for sponsors in a city or zip code. What would be the H1B Filing fee for Fiscal year 2015 ? 

There has not been any changes in the filing fee for the past couple of years. It did not change for fiscal year 2014.  The  H1B Visa 2015 filing fee can range anywhere from  $1,575 to $4,325  based on the size of the company (number of employees ). Also, the attorney fee can range from $700 to $3000. H1B Visa Immigration Reform – CIR – Proposed Changes ? The comprehensive immigration reform has not passed yet.  But, lets say, if it gets passed, the below changes may happen.

  • Annual H1B Cap will be increased from 65,000 per year to 110,000. If exteme demand, it can go up to a maximum of 180,000.
  • The H1B quota for STEM degree holders from American Schools will increase from 20,000 to 25,000
  • H1B Visa fees can up to USD $10,000.
  • More stringent rules on H1B visa adjudication.
  • Mandatory LCA posting on DOL website for at least 30 days, before it is certified.

  10. Guys,
    Don’t loose hope, some of my friends got their receipts yesterday, one of them was NON AD/PP, and others were RP. So, if a PP case gets a receipt now, so there is definitely a hope (although less) for RP cases. This week is very crucial for all of us. lets hope for the best and remember this is not the end of the world.

  12. this morning i got an update from my employer jeanmartin that they have not received any update from USCIS regarding my case. he has also written that there are very minimal chances and should get packet back by may end. it clearly indicates for my case that even fees cheque is not deposited by USCIS.

    feels sad but good luck to other folks. i will have to apply next time.

    Lottery rejected last year… no news for this year. this infy fellows will not update my lottery rejection. Some of my friends have got it..

    • Please guys don’t loose hope so early…. hope for the best and keep your fingers crossed. I am in touch with so many friends from different companies and very few (2-3 guys including me) has got it. I know its difficult to deal with stress. For CTS and IBM its good that they don’t hold back the information. So Keep your fingers crossed and wait for it.

    Folks from India based corporate applicants (Wipros , TCS, CTS etc).
    How many (count) of your known friends got receipt so far ? Is it many or few ? This will give an indication, whether it is totally over for your companies or if there is any hope left.

    • If company will not withhold lottery results then every body should get the receipt by 16 May.

      IBM and CTS has already communicating employee regarding receipt numbers

        • @ Wipro folks. – There was an official Group announcement from OOC last week saying we have to wait until May end and that’s when OOC will start notifying us.

          • Wipro and other companies shouldn’t hold information like this. This is not good at all for employees. its very stressful to wait like this. Lets hope they come back to their senses and start sharing the receipt numbers.

    • Thank God. Today AIMS is updated with the case number EAC141425XXXX.
      Last year failed in lottery. Really this forum helped me to know the current status of others and track my status. Godd luck for others who are waiting.

  33. I’m still waiting for the lottery results . Regular/RP/VT . Fingers crossed.

    One of my friend’s Reg/RP/VT is rejected. Applied through company and his Manager communicated the result.So not sure if USCIS has started sending the rejected applicants.

    I supposed rejected applications would only be communicated through Mail.Do they e-mail or update the status in their website?

    • well think about the odds,
      this time 51% were rejected in the lottery,
      Owing to the duplicate apps, i say almost 55% rejected.
      Look at the number of ADs without H1, so, Non-AD, even less.
      Sad, but true.

      • That may not be true I checked with many guys from my organization. Many applications were for extension. I believe there is a 60-70% chance to make it to H1B lottery. Keep your fingers crossed.

    Happy to inform that I got thru the lottery this year and got d receipt sterday …this ws my 3rd attempt (1st went to RFE and denied, 2nd didnt get thru d lot)and I almost lost my hopes and was thinking about plan B… guys my prayers are with all… dont lose hope…
    Mine is nonadv/regular/ vermont
    Receipt number begins with EAC141485….

    • Yes, there is hope till next week.
      But more hope if you applied in VT center, as VT generated so many receipts last week.
      But for CA center very less.

        It is unfair them to have a higher number in one center than the other though.

        I really want to abandon my hopes, but I READ your message saying to wait till the next week , that is into the third week of May.

    Did anyone applied their visa thru Aqua insys.I got call from them that my case has been picked up but I have not got the receipt number yet. any idea?

    • Might be your cheque has got encased ,so your employer informed you that you are picked up in lottery.After the cheque gets encased ,it takes 3-4 business days to get the receipt number mail.

  43. Today I got the good news from my employer that my application has been selected in the lottery and got my receipt. This was the first time I applied H1B and I am among the very lucky few who got selected in the lotter. Keep faith in God the Almighty and never loose hope !!!! Everyone waiting will be in my prayers.

    With god’s grace, I got the good news from my employer that i’ve been selected in this year’s lottery. Yet to receive the case number. Looks like it was sent by USCIS on 22nd, lawyer is yet to receive it.

    Been a silent observer of this forum. Good luck for all who are waiting. There is still hope, don’t give up folks!

    • Same here. My case number is EAC14136****** AD/RP/VT…I also hear that data entry for all applications has been completed by USCIS on 2nd May. So, I am bit tensed now about whether my application is actually selected or not in lottery.

      • Why you guys are so dumb? With out selection, how will you get receipt number.
        Few cases went from “case not found” to “Approved”. Be patient.

        • Haha yeah. Mine went from case not found to approved within a week (PP). So be patient. Esp if you’re PP they’d rather either approve or deny without putting in initial review etc (prob waste of time for them).

    • That was HOAX i guess. The guy/gal posted that comment did not give specific details. One ODC guy told me to wait for one more week. Not sure whether they are holding the results or they simply did not receive the result.
