Flash News Update  : 

  • May 5th : USCIS announced today that data entry of all FY15 H-1B cap petitions has been completed. USCIS will now begin returning all H-1B cap petitions that were not selected in the lottery. They have announced it on their twitter and facebook pages.
  • April 18th : USCIS announced that they will begin H1B FY 2015 premium processing from April 28th, 2014. Previously they announced that they will begin, ‘no later than April 28th’. They just clarified that. You can read on USCIS website

When will H1B Visa 2015 Season Begin ?

USCIS accepted H1B Visa 2015 applications from April 1st, 2014. They had the window open for 5 working days. USCIS stopped accepting H1B Petitions for FY 2015 from Monday April 7th as more applications were received than the required cap of 85,000 petitions.

What would be the Cap count for H1B Visa 2015 quota ?

No changes to the H1B Cap for FY15, the immigration reform discussions did not go through, the cap limit remained same as last year.

  • Regular H1B Quota : 65,000
  • Masters H1B Quota : 20,000
  • It is to be noted that 6,800 visas every year are set aside for Singapore and Chile Free trade agreement filings, which is called as H1B1 program.

How soon should I start planning for H1B Visa 2015 ?

[ Updated : H1B Sesaon is over for FY 15, plan for next year FY 2016 ] Well, there is nothing like too early… Getting a good H1B Sponsor can be a challenge these days. You need to find a job that fits your profile and find a sponsor that has a job for you.  Some employers want to test out the capabilities of the candidate before they plan to sponsor H1B Visa. Typically, they would like students with masters from US work for them on internship or co-op.  If they like the candidate then they will sponsor H1B visa.  If you are planning to land in US from overseas countries like India, it could be even challenging to find a good sponsor. Maybe you would need to work with global IT services companies and make your way up. It can involve lot of internal process to get the process initiated… You are never early…. How do I find Sponsors for H1B visa 2015 ?

This is probably the most asked question.  It can be a challenge to find a good sponsor. We have written quite a few articles on this topic. What would be the H1B Filing fee for Fiscal year 2015 ? 

There has not been any changes in the filing fee for the past couple of years. It did not change for fiscal year 2014.  The  H1B Visa 2015 filing fee can range anywhere from  $1,575 to $4,325  based on the size of the company (number of employees ). Also, the attorney fee can range from $700 to $3000. H1B Visa Immigration Reform – CIR – Proposed Changes ? The comprehensive immigration reform has not passed yet.  But, lets say, if it gets passed, the below changes may happen.

  • Annual H1B Cap will be increased from 65,000 per year to 110,000. If exteme demand, it can go up to a maximum of 180,000.
  • The H1B quota for STEM degree holders from American Schools will increase from 20,000 to 25,000
  • H1B Visa fees can up to USD $10,000.
  • More stringent rules on H1B visa adjudication.
  • Mandatory LCA posting on DOL website for at least 30 days, before it is certified.

    but could not find my name/employer there..

    Is that mean, I have got selected in Lottery?

    Can someone please let me know how many days will take to get the Receipt number.

    How ignorant are you? The GDP of India is $1.842 trillion USD. There are only 12-15 countries in the world with a trillion dollar GDP.

    Besides, there are all classes of people living in India – rich, poor, middle class etc. hence, 25k might be a big amount for some Indians but it might not be a big amount for some others.

    Regarding the influx of Indians in US, what to do? We are heavily populated and so, some of us will come to other countries for opportunities.

  18. On 29th of April I found that my case status became “Post Decision Activity”, with the H1b petition being approved. Does anyone know how long it generally takes before lawyers receive the documents from USCIS?

    I am a silent viewer of this blog. My wife got selected in lottery on April 10th – Regular Processing/NON-AD – California service center. The notice was sent by mail from USCIS on 23rd April and reached to our attorney on April 30th morning.

    2010 — B1/B2 — Denied by US consulate
    2011 — B1/B2 — Denied by US consulate
    2012 — L1B — Denied by USCIS
    2013 — H1B — Not selected through lottery
    2014 — H1B — Waiting for lottery result(definitely know will not get it)
    2015 — ??? — ???(But surely make my attempt)

    Passion towards US.. Is that fault bcos of me/my employer/US system or GOD?

      B1/B2/L1B denial is more depend on you and less depend on your employer.

      H1B definitely luck nothing wrong either with your/employer.

      There is a lot more rejection rate for B1 and L1 as most of the guys are not done good with their interview(mostly not confident to justify the US consulate officers the purpose of the trip and why only u?)

    • Dont worry!!!….even i was very unlucky initially….

      2010 – B1 denied
      2011 – B1 denied
      2012 – Again B1 denied
      2012 – I re-applied B1 the same year and got it approved
      2013 – my petition did not reach uscis for some bizarre reason!!!
      2014 – I am lucky enough to be picked up in the lottery…..

      i never stopped trying….. NON-AD/RP/VT….

  24. Any update from Wipro? Surprised that OOC has not received any receipt so far? do they want to hold/delay the announcement intentionally? Seems CTS,INFY,TCS guys have started receiving.

    • OOC received the receipt numbers. I heard nearly 1.5K applications got selected out of 5+ K applications filed.

        • OOC has not started informing. But some OOC folks say (unofficially) that they are receiving receipts from this Monday (28th). Any body has some close friends in OOC ?

          • I have a frnd in OOC. They are advised not to share any information pretending to the H1B lottery results. As per the latest update from my friend, WIPRO is receiving receipt number since Monday and they are waiting to get the receipt number of all applications selected through lot and those not selected.

          • But OOC does not understand our problem. We will be calm after knowing either selected or not.

            You have any idea when OOC is going to put out the H1B applications result?
            Definitely they will not get all the application results even by end of May as some applications may go in waiting list.

    Yesterday WAC has done WAC1414951307 receipts and i checked one-by-one receipt and i found few receipts of this cap related for RP guys dated April10.

    We can still keep hopes. I have checked up to 200 receipts each and every thing and in that 7 are related to cap/lottery.

        • CAP means maximum number of H1B visas available for this year for NON-AD(who have done their degree outside USA) and AD(who have done their masters other than USA).

          Max(CAP) visas available for this year is 65,000.

          20,000 visas are separately reserved apart from this 65,000 for AD guys who has done their masters in USA.
          Overall 85,000 visas available if the USCIS got petitions more than this they will conduct lottery.

          CAP subjected means who all are under this lottery system.

    • This is interesting…I have been also trying to mine with random selection, didn’t saw any. In addition I also noticed CA was working to update even after 7.30 pm PST.
      This information really helps and keeps the hope alive….

      I checked a few more beyond 200 and found more CAP cases at the CA center. none of them were PP however.

      • Thanks “some receipts generated on may1st” for checking beyond 200, i even guess it might be same case with yesterday(i know/seen only 1 receipt in first30-40 receipts on April30 of lottery related).

        We can keep hopes for another week(ultimately may 2nd week is the decision time it seems).

  36. Any hopes to receive receipt for premium processing from CA center? My attorney says until the rejection letter is received, there is hope. But i hardly see any CA receipts these days. If at all, they are regular processing. Sleepless nights since a month. Refreshing mails every minute. Frustrated over everything. Don’t want to go back. But now, i feel i just want to see one email, selection or rejection. but some conformation. Life’s in a mess.

        I am from HCL./Non AD/RP. By when i can keep my hope alive ? I still not heard any update on our results. I also did not heard anyone got selected from HCL so far. (to whom i know) so as you said 2nd week then its started from 5th or started from 12th will be the final week till then we can except?

        Is there any way where based upon the name or DOB we can check directly from USCIS website 🙂

        • There is no way to check whether you got in lottery either by ur name/DOB or what ever.

          USCIS has to send notice to your attorney/employer regarding this and they will inform you the same.

          Starting from May15th you can count down the days as mostly by May15-20 onwards rejections will also be keep reaching to attorneys.

      as for as I noticed in this forum no pp cases from CA were reported the receipts for the past 2 weeks..

      So chances are very very slim and little hope until we get the rejected packet

      • Those new CAP Subject receipt numbers that you are seeing are replacements for denied PP petitions. New numbers will again come from the lottery lot, it can be AD / RQ and these will keep coming in small counts till end of May.

        • I never heard that USCIS will allocate the denied/rejected place to some one else (lottery again for those few receipt).

          I also know/learnt/read some where(might be in USCIS official site/this forum) only that what ever denied/rejected, they will add those to nexy year.

          Anyway, i hope for the best!!!

          • If there are unused Visa numbers in the quota, which means if less than 65,000 petitions are filed in a year, then USCIS will add the remaining numbers to next year’s quota, not the denied ones.

            Anyway, all it matters is 1 visa number for you from where ever. Good luck to you.

          • Yup that’s more imp to get receipt from USCIS.

            We neither don’t care nor mind what the way that USCIS is following for that.

            As USCIS is already following very bloody (lottery) policy to decide millions of yougsters/talented guys future.

  42. I am non-Ad & regular processing, i confirmed as my check from USCiS is not yet en cashed does that mean i am not selected in the lottery ?
    My two colleagues got their receipt but i havent yet and still waiting for it.
    Is there a still chance for me ? will they drop my cheque for clearance next week and by end of next week if can get receipts ?
    should i keep my hope still alive ?

      • Which service center your petition went to?

        If it is Vermont, a lot of hopes.

        If it is California, very less hopes.

        What ever it is all based on the luck nothing else is playing here.
