Flash News Update  : 

  • May 5th : USCIS announced today that data entry of all FY15 H-1B cap petitions has been completed. USCIS will now begin returning all H-1B cap petitions that were not selected in the lottery. They have announced it on their twitter and facebook pages.
  • April 18th : USCIS announced that they will begin H1B FY 2015 premium processing from April 28th, 2014. Previously they announced that they will begin, ‘no later than April 28th’. They just clarified that. You can read on USCIS website

When will H1B Visa 2015 Season Begin ?

USCIS accepted H1B Visa 2015 applications from April 1st, 2014. They had the window open for 5 working days. USCIS stopped accepting H1B Petitions for FY 2015 from Monday April 7th as more applications were received than the required cap of 85,000 petitions.

What would be the Cap count for H1B Visa 2015 quota ?

No changes to the H1B Cap for FY15, the immigration reform discussions did not go through, the cap limit remained same as last year.

  • Regular H1B Quota : 65,000
  • Masters H1B Quota : 20,000
  • It is to be noted that 6,800 visas every year are set aside for Singapore and Chile Free trade agreement filings, which is called as H1B1 program.

Would there be lottery for H1B Visa 2015 ?

How soon should I start planning for H1B Visa 2015 ?

[ Updated : H1B Sesaon is over for FY 15, plan for next year FY 2016 ] Well, there is nothing like too early… Getting a good H1B Sponsor can be a challenge these days. You need to find a job that fits your profile and find a sponsor that has a job for you.  Some employers want to test out the capabilities of the candidate before they plan to sponsor H1B Visa. Typically, they would like students with masters from US work for them on internship or co-op.  If they like the candidate then they will sponsor H1B visa.  If you are planning to land in US from overseas countries like India, it could be even challenging to find a good sponsor. Maybe you would need to work with global IT services companies and make your way up. It can involve lot of internal process to get the process initiated… You are never early…. How do I find Sponsors for H1B visa 2015 ?

This is probably the most asked question.  It can be a challenge to find a good sponsor. We have written quite a few articles on this topic. What would be the H1B Filing fee for Fiscal year 2015 ? 

There has not been any changes in the filing fee for the past couple of years. It did not change for fiscal year 2014.  The  H1B Visa 2015 filing fee can range anywhere from  $1,575 to $4,325  based on the size of the company (number of employees ). Also, the attorney fee can range from $700 to $3000. H1B Visa Immigration Reform – CIR – Proposed Changes ? The comprehensive immigration reform has not passed yet.  But, lets say, if it gets passed, the below changes may happen.

  • Annual H1B Cap will be increased from 65,000 per year to 110,000. If exteme demand, it can go up to a maximum of 180,000.
  • The H1B quota for STEM degree holders from American Schools will increase from 20,000 to 25,000
  • H1B Visa fees can up to USD $10,000.
  • More stringent rules on H1B visa adjudication.
  • Mandatory LCA posting on DOL website for at least 30 days, before it is certified.

  1. Anyone received any updates for regular processing in Bangalore..eagerly waiting, how long do we have to wait as i need to plan for next step ? Please some one let me know how long i can wait, need suggestion badly. My employer is also not letting me know any updates whatever query or update i ask they are telling me to wait till June 2nd week. 🙁 which is very difficult. Need suggestions.

    • Your employer is right, last year some of my friends’ got their receipts as late as august.
      Until you package is returned you have a chance!!

    • Employers will say like that for me they said that I had to wait for 30-90 days But I got it in 20 days. Keep your fingers crossed. You have chances till aug-sep so don’t loose hope.

      INSZoom says Status:Closed, how would IBM update us about the receipt? please shed some light..

      • Once your documentation is done and everything is fine with your petition then your status will be closed. After that your H1B petition will be created which you should be able to check in INSZOOM. You must have received an email between 28 to 30th March that your petition is ready to be dispatched on 31st March for 1st April delivery.

        Once case manager receives your receipt they will send you an email. That receipt will be updated in your INSZOOM Case. Once you receive your receipt you will be able to track it in USCIS web site.

          • It not location dependent. Receipt numbers are very random. Believe me IBM guys has very bright chance of getting selected. So best of luck. Keep your fingers crossed.

  5. Folks I guess VT is also almost done with processing H1B’s . As of now they generated about 1044 and latest # is EAC1414951044 , out of which I guess only 5-7% of applications are H1B’s rest of them are different category… So I guess by next week most of them who filed under VT should get to know.

  6. @ Saisri – I trust your analysis…I see everyone says to wait till 2nd week of may…
    My curious question – What would be percentage of 1st week & 2nd week of May, when compare to April last week? Please comment.

    • I guess they have issue only 40 to 50 % of receipts for ad /non-ad /rp. Bcoz uscis will not post all the receipts at same time. I mean they need to verify everything before they send mail and also the mail will take time to get to attorney. So may we can expect around 70 to 80% complete by end of the next week and remaining 10 to 15% by may 2 week. There might be few case who might get receipt till may end and june 1 that might be around 1 to 2%.
      So me too waiting NON-AD/RP/CA .So best of luck 🙂

  7. I still can’t track my status, recipt#EAC1413350XXX. Although some people can track in 133 series. I am worried now.

    • Are you a PP or Non-pp. I am in the AD/RP and I cannot track either. Maybe for the regular ones, we need to wait a little bit longer? I also called USCIS. They said call them if you still cannot track your case 45 days after your notice date.

  12. Does USCIS send receipt through Email or postal mail for RegularProcessing/Non-AD.
    How much it will take to deliver if it is postal mail.

    • For regular processing they will send it by snail mail. Mine took 9 days to reach to me. I am not sure how long my attorney was sitting on to it. But ideally it should come with in 15 days. Keep your fingers crossed it will come. Best of luck to you.

  17. Guys anyone fro HCL got any update ? In iAura application its says “your petition has been filed” other than that there is no update. Tried to contact ISG many time but no response.. I heard that uscis do lottery depend upon technology/experience/Company quota etc… i am not sure if its true or not but most of the forums i heard a lot about it. vats your take on this ?

  19. Are they releasing recipts in alphabetical order because my first/ last name initials are j and k,i was also reading somwhere in this forum that people with first and last name initials s have already got receipts..does this mean that it is over for me? I am reg/Non AD/VT

    • They are not releasing in alphabetical order. One of my friend with First Name ‘A’ and other one with first name ‘V’ has got it on same day.

      • Two guys from SA location has got it. You will get an email from case manager as well as immigration team (if you have send mail to them regarding update). One you receive email you will be able to track your application in USCIS web site. Best of luck.

  24. I have a question. Will the dispatch the reciepts everyday as theyget generated? and will they send it by courier? If yes the those which got generated in past 2-3 days will still take some days to reach our attorneys. Correct?

    • For RP cases, no couriers. Only standard mail (so called snail mail).
      Attorneys must be knowing in a day or two.
      Sometimes accounts section easily know this before Attorneys by tracking the encashment of cheques.

  28. Still waiting for non-AD/RP. I did ask mobility team about it and they are saying by mid of May we will have details on all the petitions filed. I am so worried this time, since my petition not got picked up in the lottery. I just wish that we all get it this time 🙂

The mobility team personal of my company said, they (USCIS) bring out the results on lots, and do it company wise, as the result of my company is yet to come for any one… she said our lot may start getting may be in 2 to 3 weeks from now… IS IT SO, DOES USCIS BRINGS OUT RESULTS IN LOTS BASED ON THE COMPANY???????????????????????????????????

    I was under impression that for PP cases, they will communicate it within 15 days, even if its rejected. Any idea?

  43. I read somewhere in this forum that the receipt numbers generated and dispatched are sorted alphabetically. So if my name and surname starts with A so should I loose hope now for RP/Non AD/VT?
