Flash News Update  : 

  • May 5th : USCIS announced today that data entry of all FY15 H-1B cap petitions has been completed. USCIS will now begin returning all H-1B cap petitions that were not selected in the lottery. They have announced it on their twitter and facebook pages.
  • April 18th : USCIS announced that they will begin H1B FY 2015 premium processing from April 28th, 2014. Previously they announced that they will begin, ‘no later than April 28th’. They just clarified that. You can read on USCIS website

When will H1B Visa 2015 Season Begin ?

USCIS accepted H1B Visa 2015 applications from April 1st, 2014. They had the window open for 5 working days. USCIS stopped accepting H1B Petitions for FY 2015 from Monday April 7th as more applications were received than the required cap of 85,000 petitions.

What would be the Cap count for H1B Visa 2015 quota ?

No changes to the H1B Cap for FY15, the immigration reform discussions did not go through, the cap limit remained same as last year.

  • Regular H1B Quota : 65,000
  • Masters H1B Quota : 20,000
  • It is to be noted that 6,800 visas every year are set aside for Singapore and Chile Free trade agreement filings, which is called as H1B1 program.

Would there be lottery for H1B Visa 2015 ?

How soon should I start planning for H1B Visa 2015 ?

[ Updated : H1B Sesaon is over for FY 15, plan for next year FY 2016 ] Well, there is nothing like too early… Getting a good H1B Sponsor can be a challenge these days. You need to find a job that fits your profile and find a sponsor that has a job for you.  Some employers want to test out the capabilities of the candidate before they plan to sponsor H1B Visa. Typically, they would like students with masters from US work for them on internship or co-op.  If they like the candidate then they will sponsor H1B visa.  If you are planning to land in US from overseas countries like India, it could be even challenging to find a good sponsor. Maybe you would need to work with global IT services companies and make your way up. It can involve lot of internal process to get the process initiated… You are never early…. How do I find Sponsors for H1B visa 2015 ?

This is probably the most asked question.  It can be a challenge to find a good sponsor. We have written quite a few articles on this topic. What would be the H1B Filing fee for Fiscal year 2015 ? 

There has not been any changes in the filing fee for the past couple of years. It did not change for fiscal year 2014.  The  H1B Visa 2015 filing fee can range anywhere from  $1,575 to $4,325  based on the size of the company (number of employees ). Also, the attorney fee can range from $700 to $3000. H1B Visa Immigration Reform – CIR – Proposed Changes ? The comprehensive immigration reform has not passed yet.  But, lets say, if it gets passed, the below changes may happen.

  • Annual H1B Cap will be increased from 65,000 per year to 110,000. If exteme demand, it can go up to a maximum of 180,000.
  • The H1B quota for STEM degree holders from American Schools will increase from 20,000 to 25,000
  • H1B Visa fees can up to USD $10,000.
  • More stringent rules on H1B visa adjudication.
  • Mandatory LCA posting on DOL website for at least 30 days, before it is certified.

    I have received my receipt yesterday from my employer…:)..WAC-14-XXXXXXXX. – non-AD/RP….Its been really a long wait for me and at last this news gaves me an big relief…:)… I wish all rest of the guys a very good luck who have been waiting for their lottery result…

  7. Today I know people have asked this before….with almost no response.
    Anybody heard of non-AD/Reg/CA receiving receipt today. I also don’t see USCIS generating any more receipts at all for all filling types today.
    Is there any news from attorney?

  10. I got my receipt notice yesterday but on checking the status the date is shown as January 3. Will that be a problem? Not sure why the date is in jan. NonAD/RP
    On January 3, 2014, we received this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER ….

  12. Hi Friends,

    Those who are unabel to track in the USCIS, no need to worry. It indicates that they are processing and you will get the status as post decision activity with approval status directly.

    I have seen many cases and mine also got approved directly from not found status.

    For regular processing guys, not at all worry, they will release the receipts till May 2 nd week.

      I mean, i have hardly seen anyone saying they have received the receipt recently. Pretty sad that there are so many ADs left out this year.

      • i know..i haven’t seen any AD/RP/CA guys saying that they got the receipt recently…:( but yeah, don’t want to lose hope..will wait until end of this week 🙂 good luck everyone who are in the same boat as I am…i hope we all get through this lottery pretty soon in a bulk notice from CA center :))

    • Spoke to my attorney. Its not too late yet as USCIS is still sending receipts and they are expecting receipts for atleast one more week. So we shall hope for the best.

    • Its ok. don’t worry too much. you are dependent on some one right. look at the bright side. you will still be in us and nothing changes for you. you will be waiting another full year probably to get h1b. This is not the case with all the others who came here on F1. we have to join colleges again. spend 20k $ in fee and maintain status, work on cpt . Now I am not suggesting you to feel happy looking at others but don’t worry so much as you are not in the “This system is unfair” category yet.

      • Looks like u should be given visa becoz u spent 20000$.
        Being dependent and equally capable I cannot go anywhere.
        You can go to other countries when u r not dependent.
        anyways understand that dependents can do the same work and skilled.

  32. Those who got their receipt number and it is not traceable in USCIS site , please don’t worry guys . Even I was worrying till today as from day 1 I got this receipt it was “case not found” and finally it got approved now . My Receipt number is EAC1413454*** . So don’t be panic it will be done quickly . All the best .

  38. For all people who can’t track the status on USCIS website with Vermont:

    “USCIS will conduct system maintenance from 9 p.m. to midnight (Eastern) on Wednesday, April 30.”

    I think a good indication that the tracker would be updated.

  42. As far as I know, there are much more VT ADs still waiting than the CT ADs. Is it because the VT winning ratio is lower than the CT, or the VT is working in a much slower pace?

  47. Anyone here have the faintest of idea how USCIS processes cases? My case number starts as EAC141315****, whereas the ones with number 14132 and 14133 have mostly received approvals

    • I am in the EAC141315xxxx series and have not seen any update accept for acceptance

      Today I see atleast 25 – 40 approvals/RFEs when I track +/- 200 cases from my number.

      They are suppose to provide a response within 15 days for PP cases so just a little longer wait before we hear something by May 12th.

        • I think , they are picking up the applications randomely for processing , for ex – EAC1413552849 , got approved yday , mine is in the same series – EAC14135xxxxx , but no update

          • The online case check tool is unreliable. At least this year they have removed the whole “PP CLOCK START AND STOP” thing from last year.

    • bro can you please say your six digits excluding EAC so that we can compare with our receipt numbers and other thing are you able to track your status from acceptance level or till today your not able to track your status and all of a sudden you saw ure petition is approved
