Flash News Update  : 

  • May 5th : USCIS announced today that data entry of all FY15 H-1B cap petitions has been completed. USCIS will now begin returning all H-1B cap petitions that were not selected in the lottery. They have announced it on their twitter and facebook pages.
  • April 18th : USCIS announced that they will begin H1B FY 2015 premium processing from April 28th, 2014. Previously they announced that they will begin, ‘no later than April 28th’. They just clarified that. You can read on USCIS website

When will H1B Visa 2015 Season Begin ?

USCIS accepted H1B Visa 2015 applications from April 1st, 2014. They had the window open for 5 working days. USCIS stopped accepting H1B Petitions for FY 2015 from Monday April 7th as more applications were received than the required cap of 85,000 petitions.

What would be the Cap count for H1B Visa 2015 quota ?

No changes to the H1B Cap for FY15, the immigration reform discussions did not go through, the cap limit remained same as last year.

  • Regular H1B Quota : 65,000
  • Masters H1B Quota : 20,000
  • It is to be noted that 6,800 visas every year are set aside for Singapore and Chile Free trade agreement filings, which is called as H1B1 program.

Would there be lottery for H1B Visa 2015 ?

How soon should I start planning for H1B Visa 2015 ?

[ Updated : H1B Sesaon is over for FY 15, plan for next year FY 2016 ] Well, there is nothing like too early… Getting a good H1B Sponsor can be a challenge these days. You need to find a job that fits your profile and find a sponsor that has a job for you.  Some employers want to test out the capabilities of the candidate before they plan to sponsor H1B Visa. Typically, they would like students with masters from US work for them on internship or co-op.  If they like the candidate then they will sponsor H1B visa.  If you are planning to land in US from overseas countries like India, it could be even challenging to find a good sponsor. Maybe you would need to work with global IT services companies and make your way up. It can involve lot of internal process to get the process initiated… You are never early…. How do I find Sponsors for H1B visa 2015 ?

This is probably the most asked question.  It can be a challenge to find a good sponsor. We have written quite a few articles on this topic. The fundamental concept of finding a good employer does not change.  You can use our H1B Visa Sponsors Database  and search for sponsors in a city or zip code. What would be the H1B Filing fee for Fiscal year 2015 ? 

There has not been any changes in the filing fee for the past couple of years. It did not change for fiscal year 2014.  The  H1B Visa 2015 filing fee can range anywhere from  $1,575 to $4,325  based on the size of the company (number of employees ). Also, the attorney fee can range from $700 to $3000. H1B Visa Immigration Reform – CIR – Proposed Changes ? The comprehensive immigration reform has not passed yet.  But, lets say, if it gets passed, the below changes may happen.

  • Annual H1B Cap will be increased from 65,000 per year to 110,000. If exteme demand, it can go up to a maximum of 180,000.
  • The H1B quota for STEM degree holders from American Schools will increase from 20,000 to 25,000
  • H1B Visa fees can up to USD $10,000.
  • More stringent rules on H1B visa adjudication.
  • Mandatory LCA posting on DOL website for at least 30 days, before it is certified.

  1. Hi,
    If CA completed all the processing including Non AD, RP then the filing fees should be encashed by this time right!! So, those guys whose fees was not encashed are out of H1B 2015? Guys, please reply or correct me if i am wrong.

    • If cheque’s are not encashed yet, doesn’t mean that they are not selected. Account’s department will also take some time to do their work. Last year I have seen people getting receipts before and after encashment also.

  7. WAC(California) center is done with receipts updating/generating for H1B cap guys.

    Yesterday only 4 receipts generated(AD/NON-AD/RP) related to the cap, remaining all are cap exempt.

    Sit Tight, all are on the way if any one waiting(including me).

    May 2nd week on wards prepare for the worst.

    • I think big companies are having quota for H1B.. CTS GIT is releasing the names in lot..1 of our team members received on 25th, few yesterday. I have received today morning.. Best of luck for those who are yet to receive their mails. It’s a matter of time only.. You guys will also receive soon..

  14. Guys waiting kills me a lot.. I know everyone are in the same boat..couldn’t stop my curiosity. .I really wonder if tcs s generating one more round of lottery after uscis. They are taking too much of time to publish the results. . Managers should think about us..

    • from my company regular processing, total 15 members submitted at the same time, but yesterday we heard 5 members selected in the lottery, so my question is remaining 10 members losts hopes?

    For infosys employees, if for the initiated H1B, the current stage in AIMS is
    “Acknowledgment notice received from USCIS” then does it mean that it has surpassed the step of Lottery?
    If yes, would there be any document that I would be receiving for the same?

  20. Mine is RP and Non AD. If it was selected in lottery and assuming that receipt was sent and can be received by attorney/employer by May 2nd week (last possible hope). For the above case the fees should be en cashed by now. I didn’t get any information from attorney/employer regarding fees. That means is the game over for me?!!! Please clarify.

    VT generated 5323 receipts on 29th. Almost 80% of these are H1B so approximately 4K receipts in mails now. Keep hopes alive!

  27. Anyone from Wipro got any updates from OOC ???

    This is my 3rd try for H1B. First year it was rejected within due to internal politics. Second year lost in lottery. And this time again lottery and waiting for my last hope.

    Dont know how long to be in this frustrating wait !!!

  32. Any idea if Non AD/RP results have started coming? What i understood by reading the below forum is that AD/PP and AD/RP results have been almost declared. Also Non AD/PP results also have come out. Mine is in Non AD/RP Vermount. Any information is welcome

    No hope for receipt.

    I am thinking to go back to school with CPT. i m in Florida right now. ITU (CA) is too far too travel in weekend.

    Anyone has any opinion on any CPT offering university on east cost or any where not as far as california. ?

    Anyone from sullivan university? how is it? is it safe or scam?

  37. VT has generate totally 5323 out of which around 75-80% are H1B’s which is filed on Apr 10th. Keep up the hopes guys….

    For CA, I could see only less number of receipts.. Not sure if CA is done with all applications that it has received. We need to keep checking tomorrow as well.

I have applied h1b for first time in non ad and regular section…. when I check my receipt number .. its showing #on 23 april,your alien registration number is changed for I129 … non imrigation worker… this status is different from other statuses. …… is there any problem… when I checked with employer… they are telling it is normal …I m just worried. Can u people help me on this……your comments are appreciated.

      • I got my receipt number form USCIS email and from my employer also i m non-ad/pp/CA. my receipt date is 11 april 2014. The status on the website shows acceptance status. i m still waiting for processing WAC1413350***

          • when i check my uscis status it shows status of the case WAC1413350*** as acceptance and there r other steps which are shown empty like initial review, decision, and post decision activity. what does it means please help

        As per the team here at pune still 2 weeks i.e. till 15th May.
        This wait is killing man…….. I am going to take break for a week from tomorrow onwards…no internet…no emails 🙂

  50. Last year’s processing times were way different than this year’s.

    USCIS is more prepared this year. Their plan is much streamlined this year.

    AD/PP -> non-AD/PP -> AD/RP -> non-AD/RP

    I highly doubt if AD guys will get receipts anytime after 1st week of MAY.
