Waiting for H1B Visa 2015 Petition Status Updates, Case Numbers ?

Over the past few weeks, many of you have been on the blog constantly refreshing our H1B Visa 2015 Pageor H1B 2015 Status updates page seeking information from one another on the status. Also, with our H1B Visa Tracker, there are about 200 cases that are tracked by our readers.  It is heart touching for us to read and empathize everyone’s situation. We wish we could do more…Let me share some thoughts on some misconceptions that I have noticed in the comments, just to make sure everyone are on the same page.

USCIS Processed 5000 H1B Petitions today ? 6000 Yesterday….2000 previous day at Vermont ? When is my case processed ?

I see some of our readers posting comments that USCIS processed so many ( 5000 , 6000 or 2000 ) H1B petitions per day at a USCIS service center.  They are randomly counting the petition numbers advancement at a service center and concluding that so many H1B petitions were processed on that day. The truth is that USCIS service center processes much more than H1B Visa petitions and the USCIS Case Number that starts with a WAC or EAC, does not explicitly mean that it was a H1B Case number. It could include other cases like Status Adjustment, Alien Registration updates, Address changes, etc.   So, the conclusion that a service center processed so many H1B petitions per day is NOT true, unless someone manually goes through each and every petition and does a tracking by case.   Bottom-line, do NOT get bogged down by the fact that USCIS processed so many H1B petitions per day and my case number is not received, so did I get in the lottery or not.  Try to be patient and do not put yourself into pressure by false conclusions.

Readers Posting questions like AD/PP/VSC  or RQ/RP/EAC …etc. asking for updates . H1B Tracker ?

I do understand, many of us are under tremendous amount of pressure waiting for the petition status update. Many of our jobs and future aspirations are tied to the US work permit…I have been there…I can imagine…It will be nice and helpful for everyone, if we can leverage the H1B Visa tracker and post your case status there…If you can, please try to avoid posting it on the pages and leverage our H1B tracker….

Do I have to receive H1B Premium Processing case number by April 28th ? 

USCIS mentioned that they will start the processing of H1B petitions from April 28th. They did NOT explicitly state that you will get H1B case number by April 28th.  It is very likely that premium processing selected H1B Cases to receive the petition number by April 28th, but due to enormous number of petitions filed with USCIS for FY 2015, the online system that is used to track petitions may not be updated as fast as you imagine.  Check with your attorney or you can call USCIS service center as well. Just don’t lose hope and get nervous. You never know!

Did anyone receive Regular Petition Case numbers ? How Long will it take ?

Some of our readers have indicated in the H1B tracker that they have received the H1B Case number for regular quota. USCIS has started to mail out H1B Case numbers for regular quota as well.  They do NOT have a fixed time or SLA to send these petitions case number. It can take anywhere from couple of weeks to a month or so to get petition numbers… It will only arrive by USPS Mail, so it can take time…Do NOT just conclude, just be patient and wait !

Did anyone receive any H1B visa Petitions Rejection Notices ? NOT selected in Lottery results ?

So far, our readers have not indicated that someone has received a rejected petition, stating that it was not selected in lottery. Also, prominent immigration attorney sites like Murthy have indicated that they No Rejected H1B Petitions were received yet by them.  So, don’t lose your hopes folks. Life is what it is…be patient, if it is meant to be, it is what it is…Good Luck !

I can imagine it is very difficult time for most of you to be in the waiting phase, days seem longer and you cannot focus on anything…unfortunately, it is life and we do NOT control certain things…Just try to be patient and calm, spend time with your spouse/kids/yourself doing something fun…stay away from reading information that can cause stress….

  2. My lawyer told me I was selected from the lottery and my receipt number shows the notice date was Apr 16th. But when tracking my status, still shows “Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status”. Should I just wait for more time for the update? Is this normal? My other colleagues already got their updates…

  3. I applied for PP/AD/Vermont and got my case number on April 15th. but when I track it online and by the phone it say: your case can not be found at this time in my case status.
    My employer called USCIS today and talk with one of the customer service, they say it’s normal and it takes time to upload the info. so we should wait! I hope all of us get our result soon!

  5. Non AD – RP….I am yet to receive my receipt number. I am very much depressed and in extreme end of my life. Any chance for me to get it after this time frame?
    No luck in my life in any of the things, feeling scared if that bad sign is going to continue in this H1B case too 🙁

  7. I have applied through 4 different employers, Non AD – Regular Processing..But yet to get a receipt from the employers. I called my employers yesterday and they asked me to wait for 10 more days. I am scared. I am not able to sleep properly when i think about it. Please show some light. Do i still have any chance in the game?

    • 4 diff employers?

      which center. if it is EAC(Vermont) i guess you have lot of hopes.

      If it is WAC(California), might be less.

      Why did you applied from four different employers, They may find you duplicate applications and reject all of them.

    • Why did uneat up other applicants’ receipts? Lottery is a draw of luck…. If god bleses you, only one application is enough…… People like u are hazardous to the h1b aspirants

        This legal and people do it.

    • Aren’t u ashamed of doing so? 4 different employers is unfair. Wt mkes u think 4employers will incrse ur chnces. U used up caps fr several others. Sorry fr d shrtforms as m typng frm my phn. U may nt hv used bodyshoppers bt ths is still vr unfair of u. Lottery is a chnce of luck. One chnce is enf fr those who r blessd by god. So wrng of u

I am under premium processing master quota..Our company applied for 3 applicants and both of them received their case numbers on April 23 under regular master cap..I have no information on my case yet..lawyer said on Apr 23 that they have no updates. .I have sent emails but they are not responding..really getting anxious…do I still have chances?

  14. So I went to get a new I-20 today due to personal reasons and it had an H1B pending authorization on it along with the receipt number starting with EAC. Now, my attorney still hasn’t heard or received anything for me and I had pretty much given hope on it and was banking on my OPT. My question is, does this receipt number mean I got through the lottery or is there a chance that my sevis was updated in error and the number might belong to someone else. Its the hope that kills and I don’t want to get mine up for no reason. I am AD/PP

    • I think you through the lottery. You need to wait few more days to get actual I-797C through mail. usually it will take 3-4 days to reach mail to your company or attorney. Ask your employer to verify whether check has been cleared or not. Don’t worry man. everything will be ok.

  15. Got the H1B receipt notice on 29 Apr 2014 but notice dated on 23 Apr 2014 and received date is on 10 Apr 2014. So they were processing slow. Keep you cool guys.

    Does anybody of you tried to apply for CAP-GAP extension? My DSO tells me that my SEVIS record is not showing anything, but my employer told me that I got the receipt.

    I have a question.I am not sure whether it is right place to post this question as everyone is waiting for their receipts.I am currently on L1 but my employer is asking me to come back at end of July.I have filed h1 visa this year and it got picked in random selection and currently under initial review.I have filed my h1 with Change of status from L1 to H1.Now if i go back to my country in india i know that my change of status will be denied.I have chance to convert to h4 in July.If i change to h4 then also my COS will get denied,but in October can i just file change of status from h4 to h1 or do i need to go for stamping?

    Non-AD/PP. Seems my company new for a while now but they’ve decided to announce it once that had results in for 90%. We’re still waiting on a few people to get the hopefully good news.

  34. been lurking on this since april 10 until i received my receipt from uscis today 4/28. Mine is Non-AD/RP, California Svc Center Rec Date 4/10, Notice Date 4/22. Thank you so much Lord. God Bless for those who are still waiting…

  40. I have not heard anything yet, my attorney said no news? what is the likelihood of getting receipt. I have a Ph.D degree in science

      • My lawyer said that all 10 of their AD cases went through. So it looks like probability of being selected for AD is very high.

        I’m non-AD/PP and they saw my check being cashed just today, but still no tracking number. In some of their other cases checks were cashed 3-4 days before the tracking number was sent.

        So you still have a good chance.

        • Alex, wow, I sincerely hope your lawyer is right!

          By my estimates, the probability of acceptance for an AD petition is around ~66% to 75%. Even if you assume, 75%, there is about a 6% chance that in a random batch of 10, all will go through. If you assume 66%, there’s only a ~2% chance that all 10 succeed.

          Taken another way, let’s say that your lawyer’s success rate is in the 80th percentile, then the probability of success for an individual application is 85%.

          As much as I want to believe these numbers, I don’t think they are right 🙁

      • That’s a long time. Did you lawyer follow up on that? Did you ask your school to provide you the SEVIS update? I would ask but my DSO from school is not that helpful.

  45. My attorney indicated that all premium processing selected candidates have been informed. If no update on SEVIS or checks not cashed…. begin looking for other options. There is no likelihood of getting receipts anymore 🙁
