Sample H4 Visa US Entry Stamp at Port of Entry by CBP Officer

After you apply for H4 Visa interview at US Consulate in your country and it is approved, you would use that H4 Visa Stamp in Passport to travel to US. When you travel and arrive in US in flight or ship, you would go through Port of Entry Procedures , where a CBP officer would interview you and stamp your passport. Below is the sample stamp that CBP officer places in your passport, if they let you into US and all the details that you need to check and verify.

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officer does a short interview, would ask you few questions regarding your entry, verify the documents and then place a stamp on your passport with some dates on it. It looks like below and details of each of them.

  1. US Entry Date : The Date when H4 visa holder arrived in US. It will be the date that you were interviewed by CBP officer and let you inside America.
  2. Visa Category : This is the visa category that you are entering US. It should say “H4” for H4 visa holders. Sometimes, CBP officers overlook and issue wrong class, you need to make sure you verify and have it correct, before you leave the area, so that there are no hassles in future.
  3. Admit Until Date : The Date when H4 visa holder should leave US, if the status is not extended. This would be the validity of the I-94 as well.  Make sure this date is same as the H1B Approval notice expiration date, so that you get full duration to stay in US.
  4. Port of entry Code : It indicates the Port of Entry Location Code for CBP. Example SFR stands for San Francisco.
