Experience 16: Regular Slot | B1/B2 | CHENNAI Consulate

Apt booked – Apr 2022
OFC – 23rd Nov
CA- 25th Nov
OFC – Usual drill. Went there at 8:30 AM for a 9AM appt. They allowed as soon as I reached. Had to wait in a queue for 25 mins approx. Picture and biometric were taken asking confirmation details from passport. They asked for Appointment confirmation, DS 160 confirmation and Passport. Stamped and asked to leave within 10 mins. (Phones are allowed but asked to be switched off)

CA- Appointment @ 10 am but was allowed at 9:30 itself once I reached.
Had to wait in a queue for 30 mins. (No electronic devices are allowed here. So plan accordingly. I had my mom waiting in the cab so she held onto my stuff) . Came out at 10:30 AM primarily because of long queue and only 5 counters were functional.

Questions asked by VO: ( Didn’t ask for any documents except my passport)

1) Why are you going to the US ?
2) Which is your company and what does it do ?
3) Where is your office in the US ?
4) What is your role as per your current designation ?
5) Where is your headquarters in India?
6) How long will you be staying there?
7) Are you married ?
8) What is your salary in India ?

Then he said “Your Visa Is Approved” and I should expect it in a week (but it got delivered within 3 working days itself). They also hand out a green slip acknowledging the approval of VISA.

Hope my experience was useful and wish each one of you to have a pleasant interview experience and get their VISAs.

Cheers 🍻

Experience 17: Regular Slot | B1/B2 | NEW DELHI Consulate

My Mother(widow) & Mother-in-law(widow) approved for B2 visa today. Sharing our experience here so it might help somebody.

VAC: Nov 27th, Chennai
Interview: Nov 29th, Delhi

They had English language for the interview. I sent email to consulate to allow me as translator/interpreter for them. They replied saying that they have Telugu speaking staff and will allow me IF required. When we reached the consulate they didnt allow me inside. Strange thing is they didn’t give any translator inside and the visa officer spoke only English. Luckily my mother-in-law could manage some English and answered the questions.

We arranged all required documents in order of each person and wrote with pen on each document what it is.

Questions asked:

  • Are your children living is usa?
  • Give me their visas – handed over all docs related to me and my wife
  • When did your daughter go?
  • Is She is studying? Which company?
  • Is she here in India?
  • Did your son apply for visa? ( I had my Dropbox appointment the day before)
  • Which place do they live in?
  • Are you working?

Experience 18: Regular Slot | B1/B2 | NEW DELHI Consulate

Hey folks, my parents got visa approved today. Sharing their experience as all other’s experiences shared was helpful in preparing them for this.

Background: My father is partially paralyzed from a stroke since 2014, also he lost his speech ability then.

Appointment was booked on May 21st.

Biometrics on Nov 28 at 4pm, Parents arrived at 3:15 pm with their own wheelchair. VFC security staff sent a message to the inside staff to send the wheelchair from inside. We had not asked for or informed about wheelchair required. The wheelchair staff checked the application documents, and informed them that the DS-160 was more than 1 year old (my fault – as I had filled out the form in Oct 2021, and missed the 1-year validity). My brother was able to go into the cyber cafe inside the building, and update the DS-160 form with their help. They charged Rs. 250 per form, total 500. After that wheelchair assistance staff was able to escort them both to the VFC. They were even helpful in taking my father to the bathroom etc. Biometrics and photograph was done without any hiccups.

CA on Nov 29th at 10:30 am. Parents arrived at 10:00 am with own wheelchair. Again, Consular staff sent out wheelchair with escort. They were taken in about 10:15am, and everything was done and out by 10:35am. There was some problem in fingerprint recognition for my father, they tried 3-4 times, but apparently it didn’t work. However, they just let it go. 🤷‍♂️Mom was able to request a Hindi translator at the site. Only 4 questions were asked (only to my mom):

  1. Why do you want to go to the US? (A: to visit my son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren)
  2. How long do you plan to go for? (A: 3-4 months)
  3. Who is paying for your trip? (A: my son)
  4. Where does he work? (A: my job).

No documents were checked or asked for. Only took the passports, and gave back an approval letter.

Visa was approved. 👍
