Things to do like– Hiking, Skydiving, Canoeing, Theme Parks- US vs. India

In Living in USA by Kumar3 Comments

Life is all about experiences, you just live once…Since I came to US, I was lucky to experience many things in America ranging from doing outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, water rafting, Skydiving( Read my Sky Diving Experience ), crazy roller coasters, Theme parks, etc…I can honestly admit, I would not have done so many things if I were to be in India. Let me share some thoughts on kind of things you can do in US vs. India.  This article is part of the series.  Series: Settle in US or India? Life in USA vs. India? Move back?

Things to do in – Experiences, Outdoor activities, Theme parks :

There are a variety of outdoor activities that you can do in US and the biggest thing about all these activities is, they are very reachable and anyone can do them. Apart from that in US, there are so many amusement parks built with various themes to give you different experiences…If you go to Orlando in Florida, there are so many theme parks that give you variety of experiences ranging from Disney land to Sea World including Universal studios… if we look at outdoor activities, there are so many activities that you can do like Canoeing, Para sailing, Water Rafting, Snorkeling, Bunge jumping, Free fall, Archery, Skydiving, Paint Ball, Skiing, Jet skiing, scuba diving, etc…I can keep on writing the list of activities…

If we look at India, we also have most of these outdoor activities and some theme parks, but in comparison, there are lot more variety of things to do in America. India is gifted in a variety of things and it is very rich in terms of culture, tradition, natural forests, holy temples, forts, kings and history, etc…you do not get anything like this in America….Coming back to point, I think the options for you to do all these outdoor activities are limited (I mean you have to go to certain places to do things) in India and they can be a little expensive at times too.  Another thing in terms of travel to do these activities is, it is much easier to travel in US as the roads are very well structured and built well and you can cruise around 120 Km comfortably….

Decision to Live in US vs. India for Outdoor activities :

Based on my opinion,  if you are an outdoor person and love to do outdoor things and also have variety of experiences, your chances to try variety of activities and reach to these activities are much higher in US than in India.  In reality, you may be able to do most of the things in India as well, but the point is reachability, sophistication of activities, and affordability might be better in US.  So, if you are such a person who likes to try everything, you might want to consider living in US for 5 to 10 years and experience as much as you and then maybe think about moving…

Since you told that traditions and cultures in India, even in the US indians maintain the same traditions and cultures which is very strong. As much Indians don’t get respect for their skills and interests they get more respect in the US and get encouragement which is very hard to see in India.
