It has been over 2 and half months since H1B Lottery for FY 2017 and many of you have been waiting for the final decision. While, the hopes of getting a receipt were very slim, besides outliers, if you are still waiting, you were probably waiting for the official reject notice. In any case, in our H1B Visa Tracker, we had about 25 people, who claim their petition was not picked in lottery in H1B Visa 2017 Quota. Below is one of the sample reject notices from USCIS. What to Expect from the Sample Reject Notice of FY 2017 ?
The key takeaway from the reject notice are couple of things, firstly it tells you that your petition was not picked in lottery. Secondly, it tells you the next H1B season start date for FY 2018. You can file H1B for FY 2017 starting from April 1st. This is no different from previous years, but just a note for confirmation.
H1B Reject Notices – Ask Employers?
There may be some employers, who are not authentic and claim that they filed H1B for FY 2017, but it was not selected blaming the system. Irrespective of the employers, if you were promised that your H1B was filed for FY 2017 and employer said that the petition was rejected or not picked in lottery, you should ask the employer to share the Reject notice copy. It would look something like below.
Is there a case number for rejected petitions ? If so, can I check online the reject notice status using Reject Case Number # to verify the authenticity ?
There is a reject case number given for every case for documentation by USICS. But, unfortunately, you cannot check the reject notice status on USCIS website. It is just an internal reference number and you cannot verify it.
