POE - Status Sent Back at POE - Asked to Withdraw
Questions at POE, Experience I landed at 1:45 PM at Chicago. At the visa counter, I was asked to get to a separate room. After making us wait for more than 1 hour, I was called in to a separate room for questioning. I was challenged that I don't have a confirmed project and the product that I am going to work on is outdated. Furthermore, the officer demanded what is the need to come to the US and why is your employer paying you so much money to build a product that is already being used by many customers all over the world. The whole experience was meant to intimidate and it felt that the decision to send me back was pre-meditated. I was asked to deposit my phone with him after unlocking it. The next time I was called in was at 7:45 PM. For about 5 hours the officer had my phone with him. I was accused of paying for my US Visa and committing visa fraud. I was asked to withdraw my visa and go back and no charges would be pressed. Otherwise, they would subject me to prosecution and depending on the outcome of the case determine whether to allow me to work or not in the US. Since my wife was also travelling with me, I had no choice but to withdraw this application, rather than subject her to more stress than we had already been subject to. I took the next day's flight back to India. They revoked both mine and my wife's H1B/H4 as well as our B1/B2 visas. The 24 hours of time spent in Chicago airport were the most depressing of my life. So much for the american dream.
Checked Documents, Phone, etc. Additional Info The officer went through all my past emails, whatsapp conversations, Google Drive, Downloads on my mobile phone.
