My employer has recently applied for my H1B and I am on OPT(expires in June). I have a contingency plan of enrolling in other course and continuing on CPT in case my H1 is not picked. While my H1B is applied and I change my status from OPT to CPT in a different college will it affect in case my H1B is picked as it was applied when I was on OPT.
Courses that give you CPT on the very first day to continue on your current job, may land you in trouble in future. The university may be blacklisted or not a genuine one You have to be on the course for at least 9 months in order to apply for CPT.
Once you apply for H1B, using the receipt notice, you can apply for cap-gap with your current university. It will give you work authorization from June to Oct 1st until a decision is made on your H1B petition. You can make a call on your future course of action after you come to know about your H1 petition decision by Oct 1st 2017.
