US Employer H1B Visa Interview on 7 Oct 2013, got 221(g) blue sheet

Hi,

I have 8 years plus in IT and have applied for H1B through a US Employer who sponsored my Petition and upon approval and receipt of all the documents from the Employer, I appeared for PA in Chennai Consulate on 7th Oct 2013 with my Wife. This being my first H1B and in past have travelled on Business Visit for 2 weeks with my B1 visa (valid till 2012)

I was enquired on all possible angles like (EVC, Petition sponsorship, How I got to know of the opportunity etc) I answered them like its Employer and Client mode where I would work directly in Employers place for the client’s project and given Employer/Client contract, Project details with Project plan which has the timelines. Along with that other documents like my offer letter with employer contract, photos of the employer’s office, etc

But I was issued 221(g) BLUE color sheet with the options “Additional administration processing” checked and a case number was written on top of the sheet. VO said as additional admin processing is required I could hear back on status in 2 weeks time. If not received any information, then to contact them through phone mentioning my case number.

As I need to plan my separation with my Indian Employer and also to plan for travel along with family, I am interested to know if the timeline as mentioned by VO (2 weeks) will be kept up in reporting back on my case? And with the background could some one throw light on what could be the reason despite showing all the proofs? I am bit anxious to know the positivity of my case and timelines to get the status.

Please share your views if anybody wen through the ordeal before or on same boat now? Experts advice/words is highly solicited (Saurab, Sudeep Travels your views are highly regarded in the posts and please help me overcome this)

All you can do is to wait. Admin processing takes 2+ weeks. There is nothing you can do about it.

Did they take your passport? I understand your anxiousness

SnowWinter,
Thanks for the response. Yeah can understand that there is no option to wait, though interested to know if similar cases were there and what was the responses later to gauge my situation roughly. All our PP’s were returned back by the VO. Does this indicate any pattern of decision? Please share your views.

It’s the same situation happened to me also. I’ve attended interview on 4th October, received 221g blue ticked on Admin processing, asked to wait for 2+ weeks returning my passport. I can understand your situation. According to my study regarding 221g, it may take months to get the decision. As snow winter said, there is no option other than wait.
