Analysis of Economy and H1Bs .
As we look at the updates, nothing really new folks…other than USCIS updating the numbers a day late…Anyways, if we compare with the last week’s numbers October 5th, H1B cap count updates, we can see that advanced degree H1B cap filings stayed at 500, whereas the regular quota was up by 300 from 1000 to 1300. Overall, the cap number were up by 300 from 1,500 to 1,800. No ground breaking news folks…just the numbers are hovering by 200 or 300… Do you think the small spike is a sign for recovery ? Probably not…I was listening to NPR this morning and they say stocks are up today as JP Morgan Chase reports billions of Profits, 23% up and Intel did well too…on the other hand Fed says the economy is not so good and they are willing to help by doing some other stuff…The economists say, it is encouraging to see some profits, but just couple of companies doing well in a quarter is not enough…The conference board research says, more job losses likely and they forecast lower GDP Growth in 2011, the economy and jobs outlook every week makes us feel more insecure about current job….It is hard, but if you have job, you must be happy, do not complain ! As far as H1B filings are concerned, advanced degree cap is projected to be filled by early December. If you are in that space, talk to your employer and get the application going…sometimes, the paperwork can take a month or more in big companies….
