What next after H1B Petition selection in Lottery? How long is the Lottery Selection valid for?

Hi

I am a first time applicant to the H1B system via my current employer and I got a notification from the attorney stating that - The H-1B cap petition filed on my behalf was selected in the lottery. They have also received a USCIS receipt notice (whatever that is…!!!), and that the petition will now be processed

I am a ‘chance’ applicant to H1B and would like to know how long is this Lottery valid for and how long (maximum) can I delay the filing process / visa processing without negating the lottery selection status?

I am a financial consultant working in the IB / risk management space with 14+ year’s experience. I am also in the process of setting up my business and art gallery in India and hence looking to delay the process as much as possible, w/o jeopardizing my existing professional relationship with my employer

Also, forgot to mention that I am currently based in India, Bangalore and that I do not hold any masters degree from the US

Your valuable suggestions are appreciated!

Regards

The validity of the visa can be known only when you receive the approval notice, you can delay your stamping until the validity period printed on the approval notice. Having said that you need not enter lottery again for certain number of years. Your H1B 6 year clock only starts from when you enter USA.

There are several people who spend a lot of money to come to study in US but have to go back since they couldn’t get a visa. Feel sorry for them especially when “chance” applicants like you clog the system. If you had no desire to come to US why bother applying??

No personal attacks in this forum please. Every employer has a equal right to apply for any of their employee, no matter what.

Thanks Ramanan… You had mentioned “Having said that you need not enter lottery again for certain number of years. Your H1B 6 year clock only starts from when you enter USA.”

Great if you could advice on the below…

For how many years do I not have to enter the Lottery again…? I am assuming there is a direct simple answer to this question. Pardon my ignorance, if otherwise

Sorry Shibs… Overlooked this message…!

I totally agree with you on the system being clogged. However, my choice is limited and opportunities diverse when my employer agreed to process the H1B on their own accord

Kind Regards
