I am on OPT and employed with company A who has filed for my h1b and want to join company B on my OPT, dropping the H1B

I am currently on OPT EAD and employed with company A who has filed for my H1B petition, I want to join company B on OPT and dont want to transfer my H1B petition! is it possible to choose between continuing with OPT or changing status to H1B?

Regardless of me changing the employer, will the h1b be approved under previous employer or it will automaticaly drop? Will updating my university and uscis about changing the company help?

Is the H-1B already approved? If yes, then was it approved with COS or consular processing?
