F1 Visa Interview documents

Dear All,
I have scheduled an F1 visa interview at the US consulate in Chennai on the 13th & 14th of July 2015. I have had the following doubts and it would be really helpful if you could kindly spend some time on answering them.

  1. What are the necessary documents I need to carry along with me to the interview?
  2. I hold a three year work experience at a private clinic where I assisted a senior dentist. My work place not being an organization, my salary was paid to me in cash. What should I do if I am asked for a pay slip?
Thank you for spending time on this.

Sincerely,

Rohini

Rohini,

The documents you need are your Sevis fee receipt, school issued I-20 and passport. These are primary documents. Secondary documents are proof of highest level of education completed, evidence of what you have been doing presently (work or study), usually it is a letter from place of work, not paystub and evidence of family ties such as presence of parents or spouse or children in home country. Hope this helps.

Best wishes
