Is My Experience useful to get admission into good Universities

I completed Engineering in Electronics & Communications in 2007. Had 3 years of Technical experience in a R&D company and 3 years in a international NGO, in that 2 years as Manager, I want to go back to my technical field for growth and money. So planning for higher studies.

I am planning for MS in Fall 2015, embedded systems. Yet to give GRE/TOEFL ! My BTech percentage is 61.8. Last 3 years I have done many projects on Micro Controllers at home.

Please guide me if doing MS is the right choice at this age of 29 and also my present NGO experience and past R&D experience in a Pvt Firm will count or not ??

What are my chances of getting admission into good university with scholarship if I get above 325 in GRE with this profile ??

Thanks in Advance.

Experiene always helps. It can help you make the profile better. Unless you are applying for PhD based research positions in Electronics, not sure, if getting higher education like MS would add value. Getting MS will not necessarily increase your chances of jobs. You have decent experience and it should be good. My whole point is, if you really know that there is a job position that requires MS in Electronics and Communications, there is value in doing it…if not, there is no value…So, take time to think about it…I do agree that if you get a PhD, you enter a different track of research and your options open up. Anyways, first be clear on your end goal and see, if the next step will add value. Also, you need to be aware of the job situation with H1B Lottery in USA. Read these articles to get idea.

Admission to a school cannot be guaranteed based on score, they look at holistics perspective. So, you need to ensure that all your profile is strong. Your experience definitely adds value, you can highlight the same in your statement of purpose.
