Duration of stay: L2 to F1 to H4

Question

I returned from from USA to India in July 2011 after 4 years when my L-1 visa extension was denied. My wife was studying MS in L-2 visa, but had earlier changed to F-1 visa in May 2011 in anticipation of visa rejection. So, when I came back in July 2011, my wife continued her study and she returned back in January 2012.

This year my company applied for H1-B and I will go to the US Oct'12. In my case, I have completed more than a year outside of USA, so, I will get to stay a maximum of 6 years in H1-B. What about my wife? Does she need to stay in India till Jan 2013 to complete 1 year outside of USA to reset the clock?
