Analysis of H1B cap count as of April 27th , 2010
Well, this is a significant decrease in the petitions filed compare with last week. The regular cap filings for last week was 2,425 but this week it dropped to 475 and advanced degree cap count last week was 939 and this week only meager 161 were filed. You can see the graph below; the levels are way below the total cap count of 85,000 visas. Personally, I do not see any logical reasons for the low filings…No great news or bad news in a week span. My guess is, it will be a bumpy ride with ups and downs in the filings varying every week. You may see a spike in filings at the beginning of quarters, assuming the budget is done quarterly. It totally depends on the company and there is no rule as such. Overall, it is turning out to be great news for H4 visa holders to take some extra time and relax. They can start searching for full time jobs…
