May 28th , 2010 USCIS official Total H1B cap count update :

Regular H1B Cap H1B filings 20,800    of total 65,000
Advanced degree cap filing count 8,700    of total 20,000
Total H1B visa petitions received 29,800 of total 85,000

H1B cap count  update Analysis and Prediction of petition filings for FY2011

This week filings are significantly higher than last week May 25th H1B cap count. Regular cap petitions filed doubled from 600 to 1200 and the Advanced degree H1B filings  increased by 5 times from 100 to 500.  In total the number of petitions filed jumped from 700 to 1700 this week.  The Advanced degree cap as we predicted to go up, they went up because of the May graduations.  We can expect the advanced degree cap numbers to even go up further next week as I explained in last week analysis because of the graduations and final grades.  As we expected a bumpy ride on the regular cap filings before, this week there was an upswing. I do not see any particular reason that explains the rise in H1B filing numbers other than consumer confidence index staying high indicating positive outlook for job market.

Do you know of any specific reason for increase in Filings?

Hello,

My Employer filed H1B for FY 2010 and on April 1 itself. Till now it has not got approved.

Is this the situation for x% of people?

I am not in the US. My spouse’s employer filed an L1 and we got it stamped. Will that in anyways affect my H1 application/approval? L2 does not have an I-797 or notice of action.

Appreciate any help on this situation !!

Thanks

There is nothing like that for certain % of people you said. Every case is different and they may take extra time to process it. No, Both are independent. L1 will not affect H1B.

I have applied for H1B CAP this year. Can anyone tell me when can we expect for special appearance if our visa got selected from the lottery system.

What do you mean by special appearance ? If it is just for stamping, you can start your visa process typically 90 days before the start date of employment.

Hello,
Has anyone applied for a H-1B2 DOD contractors visa? Do you know where I can find out more information on the H1B2 cap. Whether H-1B2 visas remain available for this fiscal year or
whether I must wait for the next fiscal year starting October 1, 2010?

thanks
Nik

This year only 5 have been filled for H1B2 DOD Category Until June 1. They still have 95 left for this fiscal year. Check for more info : USCIS H1B Info
